The latest details in the Sean Taylor story provide grim news.

The Miami Herald has edited its story, removing a portion in which it was reported that Taylor's attorney, Richard Sharpstein, said Taylor emerged from surgery in better shape. That portion of the story has now been replaced by a paragraph saying that Sharpstein said Taylor "had lost a lot of blood and remained unconscious, possibly jeopardizing his brain."

The Herald has also removed a portion of the story in which Sharpstein said Taylor will likely live.

Per the Herald, paramedics arrived at Taylor's home following a 911 call at approximately 1:45 a.m. today and found him suffering from a gunshot wound to the groin.

A REALLY REALLY POSITIVE SIGN
Les Carpenter, who is working the story for us in Miami, heard rumblings that Sean may have opened his eyes.

I have not been able to get that confirmed but just heard from a team offical that Sean is now responsive, which is obviously a turn for the best. I will continue working away to get more details, but this is obviously a turn for the better after Sean spent much of the day in a "non-responsive and unconscious" state.

As the person put it: "Finally, the first good news all day." Let's hope it's the first of more to come.

UPDATE: Vinny Cerrato just called us with confirmation.

"He was responsive to the doctor's requests to squeeze his hands and showed facial expressions. The doctors were very happy about that," Cerrato said " ... Two doctors came and told us they were excited about that."

Cerrato also confirmed my earlier reports about Sean being "non-responsive and unconscious."
Cerrato said: "We'd heard all that and what they told us was to hope foir a miracle."

great news

Has any news station reported on what was stolen from the house?? I would think that thieves arent going to target his house a second time considering they would have to figure that he has updated his security. I also cant believe that he doesnt have an alarm on a house like that.

Do you think that maybe this wasnt a robbery?? How many times do you see robberies that went bad and the thieves shoot to kill so there is no witnesses? You think someone is going to shoot him in that region and just leave it. I wouldnt be shocked to see more come out of this.

Good Luck to Sean!!
