well that's because they're from sec country & are proud of the type of football that is played there...nothing wrong with that...but i haven't noticed any of them make outrageous comments about it...

I read this entire thread and was unable to find even a single mention of the superiority of any SEC team, much less the conference as a whole.

Obsessed, are we:shrug:

I'd wager that I'm one of the few people on this board who have tracked all of their own plays and are plus money in their gambling lives. I'm also probably one of the few who can afford to attend any sporting event they want to every year without ever accruing a cent of debt.

Wealth being defined by being able to afford a sports event without going into debt....:142smilie

Damn dude, you must be loaded.

First of all, dlvlsu is my new favorite MJ's member. Who else reads the most hackeyed, uninsightful, hayseed analysis that sounds like it was gleaned right out of the ether of your local sports bar and then cites that as, "sports knowledge"? I also love your use of exclamation points. When you realize that women use them three times as often as men, it reveals a lot about some of the posters in this thread.

redsfann,

...edited b/c too nasty. Even for you, redsfann...

dawgball,

I think the voters would randomly jump some other team ahead of you guys if Pitt and OU won. It's kind of the same thing as Michigan getting screwed last season. The good part about that is that the Rose Bowl would get 1st pick of at-large teams in that scenario and then Georgia could play USC. You'd have to come out to LA for that one.

For everyone else, I still ask is there anyone who thinks I'd have a remote chance of hitting that 80-1 shot? I am still tempted but at this point I am leaning against it.

Yeah Nick my post had no sports knowlegde at all in it, we all cant be as smart and know as much about sports as you do. I'm from WV and would like to see them win it it all but I can at least look at things objectively. If they played the schedule LSU or Florida played they wouldnt be playing in the championship game. If only we could all be as lucky as you and have our favorite team be #1 every year no matter who they lose to and we could all have as much money to go to any sporting event we want to. Man that must sure be great. I know you didnt get all that money from your handicapping ability :mj07: I bet your husband must have a really good job. :mj07:

Every team healthy, I think the Pac 10 is the best league this year overall. And if you guys were around during the Scott4USC era, you know I have repeatedly waved the SEC flag in the past and have been HIGHLY critical of the Pac 10 (outside of USC). But this year, I feel it's the best league.

My opinion, based simply on watching as many games as I can, I feel the SEC is very down this season.

B,

...you know I respect your opinion, unlike some others around here that I just look to for amusement. Here's the only problem with that.... (Dixson immediately comes to mind) Injuries happen, there have been injuries in every conference this season.... If Vince Young would have gotten injured in the 5th game, I doubt Texas would have won... You could add here ad infinitum.... ("if and's and but's were candy and nuts...") Don't fall into Nicky D's logic or you can talk ND into the National Championship this season. ;) (j/k)

Certainly I am pro-SEC, but you know I also have a relatively objective opinion and at the beginning of the season, I would have agreed with you wholeheartedly, but now I can't agree. The last few weeks I cannot see the PAC 10 being the strongest conference.

We really need a playoff to stop this banter every year.... :com:

One year on the left coast and you mind does this?

You don't miss fullback dives just a little bit?

Trust me, I longed for fullback dives and slow, white wide recievers with a passion... until I switched to Direct TV, got the Big Ten Network, and got to see them again every week!

The Dixon injury is obviously huge, and maybe I'm wrong. I guess my main point was that I just haven't been impressed with the SEC teams when actually watching them play this year, at least compared to the past. To be honest, I kinda felt the same way last year. The Big Ten, which was super weak outside of the top 3, went 2-0 against them, Florida admittedly beat down OSU, but LSU I wasn't really sure about, as they got the equivilent of a BCS bye (sorry, BBC) in drawing Notre Dame.

But who knows? That's the real key to this whole, seemingly annual, argument... there is no real way to know who is better. So I am wholeheartedly with you: we need a damn playoff!

i do think that usc is the best team in the country when healthy, but i think over-all the pac 10 is a very soft conference. they run finesse offenses & for the most part are soft on defense.
