mr wilson with all due respect......
my buckeyes will defeat your team if they were to met in the NC.

I'll take them straight up, no line if you are up for a hat wager?? I have a feeling osu would be a dog, i don't need the points

Congrats to WVU. They have a very good team this season. Why cite a poll (by coaches, no less) to prove your point, though?

Because WVU has NEVER been ranked #1 before in the history of the program. I was just gloating a little. :)

Kinda hard to brag about being #2 in the BCS.

linesmaker from Mirage said on "The Herd" today that West Va. would be around a 6 point FAVORITE.

others can confirm the conversation I am sure

Sure thing.

Let's wait to see if OSU plays in the game and we have a bet.

Ah, I didn't realize they had never been #1 (didn't read the link).

They do have a great team this season, but I hope they start scheduling better. They could find much better non-conference games.

They are playing Colorado and Auburn next year.

Nice to hear. I know that I am not pleased with LSU's ooc schedule the next few seasons.

There is a TBA next season and a pair of TBA in 2010, but as of now, the next BCS conference foe is Colorado @ home, which is scheduled for 2011:scared

I guess Skip Bertman isn't paying attention to the importance of scheduling. I am not asking for blood since the conference schedule is tough year after year, but 1 solid ooc game every 4 seasons is not good enough.

While there are some schools that should definitely worry about scheduling "tougher" OOC opponents.... (WVU, Hawaii immediately come to mind), look at their IN-Conference schedule.... That's why their OOC schedule "hurts" them so much. If you play a schedule composed of So. Carolina, Arky, Florida, Kentucky, GA, Alabama and LSU, how "tough" do your OOC games really need to be?!?! Jeeze, GA is now the highest rated SEC team and they are not playing in the Conf CG...hell, they didn't even win their own Conf Div!!! I'm not dogging GA, as they are a great ballclub.... I sure wouldn't want to catch them in a bowl game!!!

Just saying that, as most people west of Death Valley, NV already know, your OOC schedule doesn't play as much of a factor in the BCS if you're not playing a bunch of lame ducks every year IN your own conference!!! Big shocker! :com:

p.s. Sorry, I got on a rant, Wilson. WVU is a very good ball team this year. I just wish we had a playoff and not this BCS crap! Let 'em win it on the field! That's what EVERYONE else does. :SIB

I agree with you. If playing in a major conference, I am not saying load up the OOC schedule. I do prefer one quality ooc opponent per season. (ie.... Tenn @ Cal, LSU-VT, Auburn-USF, Vandy-WF, Miss St@ WV, etc)

Only way to get it right is a playoff, but an 8 team playoff would always leave someone out and a 16 team playoff would take 4 long weeks to play out. This wouldn't mean the end of the bowls system, as teams that don't make the playoff will still play in them. Most would be happy, except the teams that play 15 or 16 games:SIB

Why would 16 teams (4 weeks) be too long?!!? 1.) the kids are out of school on break, unlike when the NCAA baskets play... 2.) Only 2 teams would play 15-16 games...only 4 would play 14-15....

Think of the match-ups in a 16 game playoff.... (New thread) Playoff would be so simple! 4 weeks is easy!

First, tell Notre Dame to join a conference, along with other independents, if they want to be considered. The Big 10 woudl fit for ND since there's already 11 of them and they are "in the neighborhood" - make it 12 and keep calling it the "Big 10" - why not? You've called it the Big 10 with eleven teams, why not?!?!

Second, make all conferences have a conference championship game. Yes, that means you too, PAC 10. Come one, everyone else is doing it.... ((Except that conference that can't really count, but when ND joins and they have to rename it the BIG MidWEST COnference (idea for another new thread...what to call it?), they'll do a CG too!))

Third, 11 game season with no more than 2 OOC games.... No more complaining about OCC schedules... We'll settle this soon enough!!!

Fourth, Conf CG are all played Thanksgiving weekend!!! Now, tell me how far up the scale Thanksgiving goes.... For most of you, that would be a close second to Christmas as far as holidays are concerned. (It's already my favorite holiday.)

Fifth, Standard 16 team playoff each weekend for 4 weeks.... Play the "other" 55 (or however many stupid corporate America will sponsor) bowl games on Tuesday, Thursday nights.... X-Mas Eve, X-Mas Day, New Year's Day, New Year's Eve.... Whenever, but the "playoff is reserved for each Saturday....

Sixth, Most important and controversial.... Deciding the Top 16 teams.... Conference Champions get automatics.... I don't care if you are in the Sun Belt!!! You win your conference, you get in.... Just like the NCAA Baskets.... Who wouldn't enjoy Troy putting out Tennessee in the first round?!!? Notre Dame, you don't like it? Then JOIN A FREAKING CONFERENCE!

Sixth (cont) - That gives us 11 of the 16 teams.... Here's the rub! Picking the 5 "at-large" teams.... This is where the ludicris BCS comes into play.... :scared Who would be these 5 teams this year?!?! Yeah, I'll let you look that one up.

Seventh - Play 4 weeks and have a NC Game and actually mean it! :SIB

Good call. Additionally, use the BCS bowls, Capital One and Cotton Bowls for the quarters and semis on a rotating basis.

Here's the BIG problem for most conferences that DO NOT have Championship Games.... They'd be looking at mostly the same teams year in and year out....

WAC Admins don't want to see Boise St vs ??? every year....

PAC10 Admins don't want to see USC vs ??? every year....

BIG 10 Admins don't want to see OSU vs ??? every year....

ND is scared to join any conference.... (They get too much $$ from being an independent!!!)

No worries. I agree with everything you said. (except for clumping Hawaii with WVU :)

WVU plays at Colorado and has Auburn at home. Both are one for one....meaning they play the following year different venue.
