no wonder Penn State did not want his salary to be public info, that is sad for a guy that has been there for 42 years as the head coach. He should make about 3 million per year. :scared

why is it sad ?

paterno has had many opportunities over the years to take a different job. i remember when the sullivans owned the pats, they offered paterno a staggering amount of money to run the whole operation & he turned it down.so maybe he is happy where he is in life...

Paterno is and should be grinning from ear to ear.
He is the most overrated coach at this point in
time, followed closely by Bobby Bowden, they
both have abused their time and will continuely
do so as long as the stupid fuc$ing idiots let them.

OK, my rant is done :mj07:

LOL @ Iowa State ... Went there last year for a year, worst excuse ever for a big12 football team... my god. seneca wallace is the only reason that program probably isnt dismantled by now. They can hardly beat Drake or any other horrid football school.

That figure quoted is just JoePa's base salary. If you include his apparel deal (ie Nike or Addidas) his coach's show and camps, I'm sure JoePa is up near $2 million per year.

He is certainly not the best coach in the NCAA. The game has passed him by in many ways. His priorities have always been noble, and sorry if this sounds corny, but number 1 is to graduate his STUDENT athletes. Both he and his wife tutor students academically, and have done this from his first days @ PSU. He is a mentor, not just a coach. He is a truly remarkable man. Kudos to the administration @ PSU for not sacking him the past few years as his program has underachieved.

After 42 years, you would think the question of whether or not he's happy where he's at would be answered ;)

HELL
They have been trying to get his salary reported for years. I remember back in college 15 years ago or so, USA Today did a thing on the top 25 teams and their history with coaches salary and Joe's was the only one not listed. ????? Sure he is going to make 500K this year, but if this was the case why didn't they just report it for all those years?? My point, and in my opinion, he was making plenty more than that, and just this year it might be this current salary. I don't believe for one bit he was getting underpaid all these years, no way.
