If those are the teachers marks in red, then he/she needs to think a little more.
The student writes that the 'cup' is symbolic of an inverted phallus. I thought that was pretty good, perhaps suggesting that the absence of a blunt, usable, phallus may make one resort to drastic sexual measures, e.g. eating feces. The teacher just writes 'WHAT?" instead of trying to think it through.
