alright, i've decided to stop screwing around and start picking some winners. this mediocrity has gotten old. i'll go undefeated the rest of the year, or your money back!! GUARANTEED!!!
pitt (+10.5) 1 unit. i've said all year that new england is not some super, unbeatable team. they are very solid fundamentally (which is about all it takes to be better than most teams in the league these days) and they were playing with a chip in their shoulder. that chip seems to have finally worn off and we're seeing the chinks (not a derogatory remark about chinese people, so please hold your e-mails) in their armor. philly showed how to attack their slow linebackers with the passing game, and baltimore showed that a power running game can be effective. well, pitt has both, along with a qb that can run when necessary. for me, the only thing keeping this from being a bigger play is the absence of troy palumalu, who i believe is very unlikey to play today after missing a couple practices late in the week.
houston (+3) 1 unit. texans have been decent at home, and this may be a bit of a trap game for the bucs, between 2 division games.
arizona/seattle under (44.5) 2 units. i'm going to channel wayne root on this one... it's my 'doesn't make sense' special of the day.
indianapolis (-9) 1 unit. i'm not ready to buy into baltimore's sudden resurgence. they have spent too much time whining about last week's game. they have nobody to blame for that loss but themselves. 2 3-and-outs late in the 4th while trying to protect the lead? they deserved to lose. the colts will come into their old city and take care of business, because that's what these colts do.
