just for kicks let's have a little contest thread. everyone cap the games for tomorrow night and set your own lines and post them in here. obviously, the contest will end tonight when the vegas lines come out. i've picked 5 games that i figure will have lines.

Louisiana-Lafayette
Central Florida

Bradley
Wright St.

St. Mary's
So. Illinois

Evansville
Valparaiso

Sacramento St.
Oregon

let's see who wins, then we can get back to picking ATS and winning what really matters, dollas!

I am confident St. Marys will not be favored at Southern Illinois. I know St. Marys is undefeated and SIU has played terrible but they are very good at home so I think they will be favored by about 5 or 6.

i thought about posting salukis -1.0 but i don't think there's a way they're favored by much more. i hope it's 5 or 6, that'd be awesome! i'm on st. mary's most definitely barring a 5-pt road fave line.

I didn't take time to in depth at numbers or injuries, but I would broadly speculate:

UCF probably a double-digit favorite

Wright St. to be favored by a few

St. Mary's/SIU - close to a pick em.

Valpo - 11 pt. favorite, though I woudn't be surprised to see it higher.

Oregon - 25 or higher

LVSC opening lines

bradley -3.5... we all missed that one!

UCF -11.0... good call Mr. Poon

So. Illinois -4.0... big papi overbids... price is right rules, sorry. haha.

valpo -10.5... i get that one, SixFive, you wiffed, man.

oregon -29... holy crap! mr. poon doesn't get the win with "25 or higher," that's a cop-out. ;)

let's all go 5-0 tomorrow! only 5 games on the board for 2 days, these games should get capped and over-analyzed and picked apart and St. Mary's/So.Ill. should be a great one to watch!

am I missing something, isn't Wright State at home? Bradley hasn't been impressive this year, so I'm surprised with that one.

in play at bradley -1.0... only took a few hours for the sharps to hammer this one. i'll be following them and i'm sure wright st. will be favored by 2+ by tip tomorrow.

I agree with the majority here on the St.Mary's game. However, I wouldn't be shocked at all to see S.Illinois get -3 or something like that. They would get a ton of ppl jumping all over STMary's because of their recent ranking.

i always look at the next day's games during each night's games and as soon as the opening lines come out i try to anticipate where the overnight $ is gonna go... then when i get up at 6am i get to see what the market maker at matchbook has posted as the opening line in play.

if anyone has read my many posts about how great matchbook is... one more thing i've forgotten to mention, i think is the MarketMarker part of the software... the person "the market maker" is the one that puts up lines and opens markets but until money is offered on the games there's no action... the MarketMaker is this...

for example, tomorrow's games...

st.mary's +3
so.illinois -3

it lets you set a price (with a vig %) of how much you want to make and you cna offer up money on both sides at + odds so if all the money you offer up gets matched, you will win the total amount of the vig.
this is what it looks like when i've offered up $ with the marketmaker....

team........line....odds....available
st. mary's +3 -107 $107
so. illinois -3 -107 $107

that $107 on each side corresponds to $100 i've offered up on each side at +107 odds, so if all of it gets matched i win $14.

everyone should read all the features listed on the front page of matchbook.com and get signed up.

When I bet at matchbook I loved the luxury of setting you own line. Of course, someone's gotta take it as well :)

I love st mary's. this kid Mills is the real deal at point...however..in this spot southern illinois is the play. The salukis at home are very physical and have a huge home court advantage (must like st. mary's at home). Mills is great, but has never seen anything like the salukis on the defensive end. Like I said..I love St. Mary's..made lots of money on them (seton hall, oregon etc) however, the play here imo is on the Salukis. The line should be -4 or 5. It's been bought down to -2.5.

Best of luck,

Craig
