I knew there was some stats about how Fav's do pre and post I thought it was New Years Day bowls, but found in one of AR182's threads from last year it's actually pre and post Christmas day bowl games. I took the stats from 03-05 and updated them with last year here are the stats:

Overall from 03-06

Pre X-Mas bowl games

Favorite is 21-3 SU and 17-7 ATS

Post X-Mas day bowl games

Fav is 51-40 SU and 32-57 ATS

Last year in the pre x-mas day bowl games the fav went 5-2 both SU and ATS, the two losses the Dog won outright. And the post X-mas games the Fav went 15-9 SU and 8-16 ATS.

Feel free to post any other bowl trends in this thread.

c2....

i'm not betting the bowls this year, but will post anything that i come across in my travels...

got this from another site..don't know how accurate it is...

PLAY AGAINST
Favorites entering their Bowl game off of two or more consecutive losses.

Theory: (It can be argued that a team that has lost two or more games can look at its Bowl game in one of two ways - either it's a chance to end the season on a positive note and make amends for a disappointing finish to what had been a very good season (after all, even a 6-5 team was 6-3 or better before their end of season losing streak). Or, such a team might not be interested in continuing what had been a promising season but which had turned sour down the stretch. Often such a team that is made the Underdog in this situation is a team that had overachieved during the regular season and looks upon this Bowl game as a reward and chance to show they really are an improved team. A Favorite in this spot is more apt to be a team that had higher aspirations but whose late season collapse relegated that team to a much lesser Bowl than had looked likely before the losing streak set in.)

Adding to the two loss teams coming in if Kentucky stays the fav, they lost their last two games so they would be a play against.
