There were 11 people hanging onto a rope that came down from a plane.

Ten were LDS, and the other a Born Again Christian.

They all decided one person should let go of the rope because if they didn't then the rope would break and everyone would die.

No one could decide who should let go, so finally the Born Again Christian said, "I'll do it."

After a very heartfelt speech from the Born Again Christian about service for their fellow man, the ten Mormons began clapping.

Problem solved.

i respect gmro`s atheism......i respect smurph`s being an agnostic....

what i don`t respect is the intolerance....christians and mormons aren`t chopping off heads or committing genocide...nobody`s forcing anyone to be called to prayer 5 times a day or to wash their feet....they aren`t hanging homo`s or subjugating women....

it`s the 21st century...

to each his own...this IS america?....

right?

and btw...notice how spy slyly tap danced around my invitation to not only slur christianity and mormonism...but,to denigrate islam.....

he`s not goin` there...

you guys get it now?...he`s like the cowardly instigator in the schoolyard encouraging the other kids to pick on someone HE doesn`t like...

this is what they do...on forums all over the net...

wake up...

All religions are a joke and some are a joke within a joke.

If people put the energy that they put in religion into treating people the right way there would be no need for religion. When you die what's coming to will happen no matter how much you pray.

Everybody wants to go to heaven but nobody wants to die.

Got to hand it to muslims, they believe more in heaven than christians do. They don't mind dying to get there.

I'am not religious, but i do watch the NFL religiously.

I guess I've never understood why something that (from my uneducated perspective) can essentially not be proven or disproven beyond doubt can elicit such strong feelings. But I respect those feelings, for the most part.

I think the biggest problem I see with organized religion is that there are so many different "religions" that think that their way of looking at things is the "right" way. And cannot really allow anything else to be "right." It's the self-righteousness and almost proprietary nature of some individuals that really bother me the most. Not talking about someone like Buddy, for instance, who seems to simply exude postive beliefs and seems genuine.

Have had some personal situations with religion that have caused me to shy away from the organized part of it, but I feel comfortable with my type of faith.

Chad: Nice to see you in a religion thread.

Don't fall into the "prove it" trap. The onus is on the believers, not the skeptics. For the unbelievers, proof god doesn't exist is everywhere (no evidence, none) but the believers make the exact same argument on their own behalf, ie., everything is proof of his existence. It's a clever trap, but logic will lead you down the path of the unbelievers.

I'm passionate about the subject because I think religion is dumbing down our country and hindering our progress as a species.
