With all of the negative press about cheating, arrests, etc. I am pleased to post a nice story about LSU OT Ciron Black. This story strikes me personally because I have a 2 year old boy(and a 7 month old).

Story from 2 LSU message boards and an LSU blog:

Two days ago one of my patient's came into my clinic to tell me about a little boy named Michael V. Conger. Michael is in St. Jude's hospital battling cancer. Three days ago he received this blog on his web site.

SUNDAY, DECEMBER 16, 2007 10:19 PM, CST Hey Michael, I recently saw your story and wanted to have the honor to write in your guest book. My name is Ciron Black. I am the left tackle for the tigers football team, im also number 70 and I saw you wearing that jersey number, that's a great number by the way:). You know some people see us as heroes because of how we play but the truth is people like yourself are the real heroes. I see all the small problems I face are nothing compared to the hardships that you may go through. God has a plan for all of us and for some reason he put it on my heart to write you tonight...if it is at all possible I would love to talk to you. My number is #%$^%^&$#% anytime day or night if you need someone to talk to. Hang in there buddy and just know that anything is possible through Christ. Your Friend, Ciron Black

P.S. I would love to write your name on my wrist tape as I get ready to take the field on Jan. 7th for the national championship. Let me know if that is ok.

Michael's family, who lives in Prairieville, called and met up with Ciron to take pictures and thank him for his support. Ciron gave them a football signed by the entire team. I don't know about you, but this is the kind of player I want representing in the NC.

This was posted in the dandydon LSU blog today:

Friday morning I posted an article about a young boy who is a Leukemia patient at ST Luke hospital in Memphis. Later in the day I received the following email from the young boy's father:

Don, I wanted to confirm to you that the story on Ciron Black is true. Michael Conger is my youngest son. He is a leukemia patient at St. Jude and has been fighting this disease for the past 2&1/2 years. He is currently at Memphis and in need of prayers. We want our little boy to just have the life we have all had. He, and many like him, live day to day on a fight that sometimes is not winnable. Ciron realized that and he wanted to encourage Mikey to keep up the fight and win it. Ciron asked for nothing in return. He sincerely wants Mikey to beat it.

Ciron is the guy who will be a great role model for our kids. If he represents the character of our team (and I believe he does), we have some men that we will be proud of when they complete their football careers. He, and they, will make a difference in our world. They are definitely champs in more ways than on the football field. The same is true of their coach. I believe we surround ourselves with those we respect and love, and there is no doubt we have a Championship Team. I think they are going to make us proud on January 7. I know my little boy will be watching from his bed and cheering for his team.

Its a great day to be a Tiger! Please pray for all the ill children at St. Jude and elsewhere that have to spend Christmas in the Hospital. Their BCS continues everyday. Thanks.

I was happy to post it, GW. The story moved me to tears. My wife looked at me like wtf?? I read her the story, and it moved me to tears again.

From now on, I will remember to pray for Michael Conger, and all of our children who are affected by severe illness. It is very easy to forget those who are suffering when it does not affect us directly.
