Houston
Being from Houston and hearing the local talk on sports radio, I can tell you this.

Houston lost Coach Art Briles to Baylor and from all accounts, the Houston playbook was ONLY in Briles head.
THEY DID NOT HAVE A OFFENSIVE PLAYBOOK to speak of in any paper form.

It sounds strange to me,but it seems to be true.So the make shift staff that has been thrown together is relying on the offenses knowledge and communication to put something together.

This is just my guess why the line is going up.

I cant believe this would be true. He may have the most knowledge about the Playbook or it might be his scheme and plays but im sure he has documentation. You dont just teach 65 guys from your head in Div. I football and call plays from your head during the game. Im not saying its not a huge loss for Houston but im sure there is someone on that sideline with the knowledge of the playbook.

Maybe this might shed some more light on why the line is moving up---

TCU took forever to get rolling this year. The Frogs were 2-5-1 ATS in their first eight games. Things clicked in November, and TCU went 4-0 ATS to finish the season. So, this is a team that closed the season very well, and knew they wouldn't be going to a marquee bowl for quite sometime.
Houston was just the opposite. The Cougars were4-3 ATS in their first seven games, but went 0-4 ATS to finish the season. The team was still winning games for the most part. But, they were beating bad teams by unimpressive scores. The season lowlight came in a 56-7 loss at Tulsa in a near pick-em game. That result put Tulsa in the CUSA championship game, and put Houston in this spot.
Houston coach Art Briles has left to run the Baylor program. That combination of a poor finish and a coaching distraction could be a very big hurdle for the Cougars to clear. Our on site sources are focusing on that element as they help us make a final decision. TCU crushed Northern Illinois 37-7 in the Poinsettia Bowl last year. If Houston isn't motivated for this game, they're likely to get crushed as well.

Agree, I think the main thing here is being able to apply those play calls in a situational situation?

Believe it. Houston has no playbook. I'm sure it's some BS system that everyone knows (and isn't too hard to figure out) and I'm sure him being gone doesn't mean Houston can't run whatever the hell it is they do. But ever since Briles showed up they (Houston talk radio) talk about how there is no playbook.

Its like your grandma asking you what you got for christmas, then you're like " legos grammy, santa gots me some legos with castles and stuff"

Grandma knew what the hell you were getting before you opened it, but wants to be polite and social with the kiddies.

Plus some people just like to hear themselves talk, others want folks to tell them things they already 'know'

Its cool though, grammy.
