that's right, gentlemen. i have for you a lead pipe cinch lock. yup, i even used the 'L' word. how can i be so sure i'm giving you the right side tonight? because when it comes to the BCS championship game, i am the ultimate fade. i don't know offhand how many years they've had the BCS championship game, but i'm pretty certain i have never been on the right side. you read that correctly... i am oh-fer-the bcs championship game. it's the polar opposite of the super bowl, where i've hit 7 of the last 8 (damn eagles backdoor cover). oh, and i'm playing this large enough to get myself positive for the bowl games. so i'm chasing with a ridiculously large play. anyways, without further ado... my play is...
LSU (-3.5) 5 units. sorry, tiger fans. maybe they'll still win by a field goal. but no way they'll cover. i did go back and forth on this a little. a few things that went into the decision-making process...
lsu is one of the best teams in the country. they just haven't played like it very often this year. yeah, i really don't want to play the team that's underacheived most of the season.
osu has a fairly large advantage at head coach. in fact, that was why i almost went with osu. the head coach position is such a huge factor in college.
for the life of me, i do not know the buckeye's starting qb's name. todd? boeckman? broeckman? i'm pretty sure it's one or the other, but i follow college football pretty closely and if i can't tell you for sure the name of a starting qb in the championship game... well, he is less than impressive. i can name both of lsu's qbs... matt flynn and ryan perilloux (ok, maybe i can't quite spell one of the names, but i know how it's pronounced). sure, flynn hasn't had a great year, but he is battle tested.
anyways, for me it came down to one deciding factor... LSU is flat-out the better football team. of that, i have no doubt. does the better team always win? of course not. but i'm hoping they win by at least 4 tonight.
so there you have it. if you take the buckeyes, you'll be laughing all the way to the bank. and i expect nothing more than a thank you.
