LOS ANGELES ? Suzanne Pleshette, the beautiful, husky-voiced film and Broadway theater star best known for her role as Bob Newhart's sardonic wife on television's long-running "The Bob Newhart Show," has died, said her attorney Robert Finkelstein. She was 70.

Pleshette, who underwent chemotherapy for lung cancer in 2006, died of respiratory failure Saturday evening at her Los Angeles home, said attorney and family friend Robert Finkelstein. She was 70.

"The Bob Newhart Show, a hit throughout its six-year run, starred comedian Newhart as a Chicago psychiatrist surrounded by eccentric patients. Pleshette provided the voice of reason.

Sports:

The one rule I can't remember is did you chug your beer when someone said "hi Bob" or when they just said "Bob"? I'm sure there were variations of the game.

I belonged to the Southern Ohio Hi Bob Association aka "SOHBA". I also remember one episode where Suzanne Pleshette was disappointed with something Bob did and she was shaking her head negatively saying "Bob, Bob, Bob, Bob."

Rough episode.

We did a big gulp (house rule)......

FYI Eddie, I was the President of the Bugs Bunny Fan Club at the University of Maine @ Farmington.

My favorite part of the job was getting the rest of the dorm up at 7 am Sat. morning to head for breakfast, then back in time for Bugs @ 8am. Never went to sleep Fri. nights (always a big drinking night) so I wouldn't oversleep!!!!

A case of Old Milwaukee bar bottles were $4.99 at Arcade Pizza down the street.........

My freshman year, we had intramural bowling that started at 9 am on saturdays at the student union at University of Cincinnati. You talk about lack of attendance. Geez, more people went to ROTC back then and that was during Viet Nam (so attendance was a touch on the light side)

We named our team "Carling Black Label Beer". Bunch of long hair hippie freaks with stoner hangovers wearing Nixon like bowling shirts. Made no sense whatsoever.

Not sure if you guys had that rot gut stuff up there but we bought a case of it with us and started our saturdays off properly. Nothing like the hair of the dog that bit ya.

Carlton the doorman. I almost forgot about him. I really liked Mr. Carlin. Y, I would think that you are like him in real life. Am I close?
