Ain't that the truth?

saw something in this mornings fishwrap about "adjusted gross" being the number used for determining if you get some Yuan or not..

If we see some $$, its headed for the little one's 529 plan, anyway...

Agree with both of you--don't like any foreign country hording our property--or buying in to our financial houses.
Remember years ago--the Japenese bought up lots real estate in hawaii--then when their market turned south--

Yeah, and they(the Japanese) bought Pebble Beach golf course, too!!

And if I remember correctly, the Japanese had to sell it at a huge loss when their economy crashed and burned. That was-- what? 10-15 years ago, and they still haven't recovered completely.

Would have much rather seen the Gov't do nothing to help out the markets--so what if the economy has little or no growth for a year or so??--which is about all that was going to happen, according to many experts--now it wouldn't be a shock to me to see the country in a severe recession lasting several years--starting in late 08 or early 09-after the "stimulus" doesn't work...

This thread said more hand outs for poor. ????
Per our state dept, 118 million will get money. Of that 118 they consider 22 million as poor. Looks like a hand out to middle classe. And it won't to chit. Well maybe stimulate things for two months.

5ft, pin high......
Won't even see the checks until July. And the money will go towards debt reduction. It was a bad idea 6 yrs ago, and its still freakin' bad. Read Chadman's post......"Farewell to Old Economic Nostrums." Makes it pretty clear to me.

well, if tax cuts are "only for the rich"

then rebate check for those making under 75k are "only for the poor"

how any fiscal conservative can think this is a great idea is beyond me.....JUST CUT THE MARGINAL TAX RATE FOR EVERYBODY...and here's an idea for the govt......STOP SPENDING AS MUCH!

batfreak, there actually is a rather embarrassing initiation ritual here. You have to fly out and meet with Gardenweasel, and allow him to photograph you naked, for distribution to other conservatives who lead a hidden, disgusting existence. After that, Jack can change the most embarrassing image from one of those, to something else.

Let us know how it goes...:tongue

But seriously, folk...

Go up to the top area of the forums, just below the four banner ads and click on "User CP". This takes you to your own personal control panel, where you can select from a lot of different image avatars to "represent". You can also add a signature there, and other things.

Good luck, and welcome. Jack also takes personal avatars via e-mail, I think, so if you have something, try that.

Noticed you had a cancer battle last year, batfreak, how is that going now? My wife has gone through a couple of melanomas in the past two years, my sister passed away from cancer last fall...entirely too prevalent in my life. Sincere best wishes...this is a good group of people, when push comes to shove - we drop the BS when fellow MadJackers go through tough times.

Guess who pay's it back???? yup, it's us. Now I can pay some bills. I had cancer last year and my wife and I are still trying to recover, guess that's why I'm in the $70,000 and lower group. Should of stayed in school!

$70,000 good sum--many that went to school earn less--

As matter of fact--it might be encouraging to know--that 2 individuals with prestigious ivy league law degrees made less than $70,000 each prior to while house/politics--Hilliary and Slick "joint" income just prior white house was $138,348--
Thats not a typo either :)

P.S. This was significant increase -over previous years as Bill got Hilliary in partnership in Rose Law firmand bout doubled her previous income--of course we know rest of "that story"-- the scandals that followed this partnership--ie Whitewater.:)

Couple of thoughts before I pass out from the drink.

1. Term limits for these bozos.
2. Make the tax cuts permanent.
3. Get rid of teacher's unions.
4. Stop spending like drunken sailors.
5. Scrap the current tax system.
8. Damn this was one fine red wine.
