Well they had again changed their minds after the neonatal specialist said he would personally help them with the next pregnancy. They were ready to give her the medicine to induce the labor and brother in laws brother had asked a nurse how many people actually does this. He was told very few and changed his mind. They are now not even considering terminating. They pretty much don't care what statistics they say about what could be wrong. I mean what the fuk- they have gone almost 3 days and no early birth. She could go another week and that could put her over the 24 week and I think they are only 2 days for that. i am no doctor but i would think everyday she doesn't deliver early the better chance the babies have. She was hardly having any contractions today. I finally talked to him today personally and said I would give those babies every chance. He was agreeing with me but i could tell he was under alot of strain. I also think my views on abortion might have changed when he actually described what they had to do to terminate.

bbc- it is carle clinic in champaign alevel 3, myself I thought if there were in Peoria at St Francis the level 1 they wouldn't be getting nothing but you have terminate advice.

It just gets under my skin where the hospital says terminate, the insurance says it won't cover unless there is certain things wrong. I can't have any idea what they are going through but it just gets to me with my wife carrying twins 10 weeks behind them.

Again everybody thanks for the prayers and letting me vent

a couple of things i would add:

-if there is no brain function, they shouldn't do anything. period.

-i would be really careful about the statistics of "survival" for these extreme premies. many do horribly and cannot ever have a normal life. not to mention they go through hell just to stay alive. i know that its easy to get emotional with these things, but indeed sometimes the best thing for everybody, including the kids, is to not go wild trying to keep them "alive".

this comes from someone with experience working in a quaternary care pediatrics hospital.

i hope things turn out well for your friends.

Last time I update this situation. She has had little to no contractions to date. They have even gotten her up to go to the restroom only. One baby has full fluid- the girl, the boy has half fluid which should make him try and develop faster but can manage with that.

IF anybody is put in this position, weigh your options carefully. If it was up to that hospital and doctors they would have already terminated a week ago. Everyday from now on gives the babies a better chance of a healthy full life.

thanks
