And I think outside of Anchorman, he has not starred in a great movie.

He is a great comedic co-star, but his act is not ready for the lead role, imo.

I liked "Old School", but i'm not a big fan of his.

Old School is freaking great, but he was the funny friend. Not the star, imo. His performance was probably the most memorable, but the movie was not relying on him to carry it.

Wedding Crashers was his PERFECT role. Extreme and not the focus of the movie. This is his sweet spot.

Unfortunately, movies are being made relying solely on him and, to me, they don't work.

Elf was slightly above average in my book, at best.

I really like Ferrell in Blades of Glory. Thought he was worthy of that billing - funny movie, IMO.
