MAAC has 4 teams tied for 1st.Well,Loy Md played last nite so there a half game in front.Loy Md is 12-5 and Niagara,Siena and Rider are 11-5.Fairfield is 10-6....they all have a shot at the conf title with an automatic bid to the NIT's and a bye in the tourney next friday.I think if Loy md beats Marist on Sunday they clinch the tie with all the tiebreakers.Siena can with both of its last 2 games and still come in 3rd.Tiebreakers are confusing...
MAAC won 6 bracketbuster games..Even Canisius won over Albany.Biggest win was Siena going out to Boise and blowing away the WAC champion..
Here we go with tonites games.I finally broke my MAAC slump during the bracketbuster games so be careful..with my picks...going opposite could make you rich..
Marist -7 over Iona ***
Foxes have lost 6 of 7.Got blown away by Clev st in Buster game..they have a great home record in Poughkeepsie but lost to Siena and Rider who are better teams.Getting crushed 83-62 at Manhattan was there worst conf loss in yrs.
But tonite the red shirt Cuse transfer McCroskey comes back after missing half the season.He is there best scorer,rebounder,etc.Losing him is the reason why the foxes have been playing bad..not sure how much he will play but he's ready.. Iona has played well despite there away record of 2-5.think foxes win this by double digits...10-12 pts..McCrock might be a little rusty but he's a force inside or outside.Plus Gavin the frosh has been quiet..tonite he finds the range..
Fairfield -6 over Manhattan ****
Stags are hot,won 6 in a row,beat Drexal at there place and are still alive in the race which seems impossible or improbable..MC had been playing better but then gets beat to an undermanned Binghamton team at home.Stags will pounce on the jaspers tonite.
Niagara +6 over Siena **
NU won at the buzzer vs Appa St.Think they keep this game close>lost to the saints at home by 10..think tonite they get a little revenge..1st place is on the line..Fisher is tough to stop.but Boise who's offense is explosive was stopped by Siena defense.siena can't play defense..or past tense..couldn't.If siean does what it did out west the Saints are the team to beat in the MAAC.lets not forget the tourney is at there place in albany..
Think NU plays some defense..and keeps this close..might look at the over later???
Rider -13.5 over Peter *
Peter is 1-7 away,3-13 conf and 6-21 overall.Rider needs to win last 2 for tiebreaker,etc..They can blow away Peter by 30 tonite.But will they...small play...Rider has the hot Fairfield on sunday and with a nice lead might rest Thompson there air craft carrier..
In fact that might happen in some of these others games with everyone playing on sunday again..
