I just heard that "Bracketologist", Joe Lunardi, has Virginia Tech "out" and St. Joe's "in" in the NCAA tournament. Could it be that Joe is trying to will his alma mater into the tourney? Has St. Joe's beat anybody that's any good? Fordham twice? :mj07:
And VaTech out? VaTech came within a missed rebound of beating the No. 1 team in the nation today. VaTech was on the bubble (according to Joe) before the game and a 2 point loss on a lucky rebound knocks them out? Joe is drinking the ESPN pro Big East/anti-ACC Kool-aid again.
Time will tell as to who actually makes the tourney, but Joe needs to find a real job. Oh, that's right, he has a real job . . . as assistant marketing vice president . . . at St. Joe's, of course.
By the way, Lunardi admits to not being good in NCAA office pools ? he lost to a dog once and, last year, lost to his 9-year-old daughter. :mj07:

st joe's beat xavier twice and they won 10 road games this year

virginia tech lost all of their games against good opponents this year

you say they only lost to N.C. by two yesterday, well they still lost and btw they lost to them by 39 POINTS couple weeks ago. they do not deserve to get in. THEY HAVE NO BIG WINS even if they were close 1 time.

Virginia Tech lost to Old Dominion and Richmond.

They have 13 losses and have beaten 1 NCAA team (Miami).

If they make the dance...it is all a joke.

So. Cal
va tech should be nowhere near the ncaa tourney.....no wins to speak of and a slanted conf schedule that allowed them to beat the dregs of the acc

espn.......with an anti-ACC bias.......did they fire Dick Vitale or something......thats a new one to me........most of the talking heads seem to be promoting VT, and I set the O/U for # of times during today's broadcast that Patrick and Vitale say the Hokies deserve to be in at 5.5. And, their reasoning will be they had a winning record in the ACC.

I am all for debating these teams, but lets not create a conspiracy. An anti-acc bias at espn is laughable.

Dickie V was promoting Va Tech for the Tourney every chance he could last night. To suggest ESPN is anti-ACC is ludicrous.

Dickie V has been promoting the ACC. Everyone else on ESPN has been hyping the Big East (the infamous north-east bias).
If VaTech is the 4th place team in the ACC, the league with the highest RPI, and doesn't get in, something's wrong with the way they calculate RPI.

By the way, I just saw where Lunardi has changed his opinion on VaTech and St. Joe's. Maybe he read my post from late last night. LOL. :mj07:

Vitale just promoted VT. 12:11 to go in the first. 1 down, 4.5 to go!! :mj07:

I will say I like Lunardi. I am a college hoops junkie, as is, I suppose everyone else here. Been following his tourney projections for years. Even with weeks to go before selection day, its always cool to look at his projections and guage where teams are and which upcoing games will carry more weight. Since he started it years ago, their are many other sites and bloggers who have followed suit.

But, yeah, its a fluid situation. I had just read he had Joe in and VT out, but within the hour he was a TV saying he had already changed. The Hokies must have looked awesome at a brunch pickup game this morning? Maybe they played and beat Duke in not televised consolation game. :mj07:

Back to Lunardi, love that he puts matchups in his bracketogoly as well. This might sound weird, but I periodically will check it out and try to predict what the spread would be and who would win/cover. I know none of those matchups will ever happen, but i find it a good capping exercise in prep for March Madness. Either that, or I am always just looking for action, even in fake games.

They have 9 conference wins and 1 win versus top 50 RPI.

Do the math.
