Above the Clouds....
You know the more I think about this game I think they may have the wrong team favored here.

Mem had a great year and kudos to them but if they played in the Big East they would have had 5-6 losses. If Tex played them like they did Stanford then they would be in.

I know a lot of ifs this time of year and I don't want to get into a pissing match these are just my thoughts.

It's all about picking winners isn't it? More thoughts.....

stanford is a very slow team and a shitty on the defensive boards - that is why ucla beat them soundly in the pac 10 final.

brother, the tigers would be the big east champion.

honestly, ask wareagle, i am as critical of the tigers as anyone. this year they are just more talented than most teams they play. we have been missing a pg and now we have one. we may get beat, but ucla will have to bring their best game of the tourney. robert dozier is an x factor here as he played terrible against texas - he is capable of a good game against a slower, tall defender. rose is no lavender, he is big and strong. collison will have his toughest matchup of the season. the only weakness that tigers have is inside against love. this may be costly in the end, but ucla has a habit of ignoring the big man for stretches at a time.

memphis may have peaked one week too early, but they are capable of another great effort. rose has finally realized he is best player on the court.

if we attack the holes in ucla's trap at the top of the key, and we keep them off of the boards we will win.

gl, either way.

You asked for opinions, so here goes: I think UCLA is the 4th best team left in the tourney. The received a cakewalk to the final four and needed a gift to beat A-m, not to mention 2 gifts to get a number 1 seed. Memphis just crushed a team that is better than UCLA. I would have to disagree with Memphis having 5-6 losses in the Big East...last I checked the Big East was not invited to the final four and among them Louisville is the only team that could even think about matching up with them. Their streaky shooting does worry me, but UCLA is not exactly the poster child for a shooting clinic. UClA seems to be too concerned with trying to make half court shots in practice rather than trying to prepare for the blitzkrieg they are about to encounter. For my money, Ucla was about the 8th best team in the country this year and I think the 2 to 3 points is a gift for Memphis. The only other concern here how involved the refs get in this game. They have seemed to favor UCLA for the past month. If it goes both ways, I would not be surprised by Memphis winning by double digits. Westbrooks punk azz will finally see what it is like going against someone who is more athletic than him and I expect him and Collision to be in foul trouble. Shipp has been sunk for a while, but maybe he can play some more great D by grabbing wrists. This line is only close because the "experts" still think that UCLa is going to win the championship. This team is a fraud and should get exposed tonight. As the public usually listens to the so-called experts, this line has been kept low for that reason. I have heard more experts all over UCLA than Memphis but yet the line favors the Tigers? Taking it home.
*Disclaimer*
This was not directed at anyone in here, just one man's opinion. As you can tell, I have not been impressed with UCLA.
Good luck to all.

The public is certainly not on UCLA in this game. The reason Memphis State is favored is because of their last two games and that UCLA did not look that great against Texas A&M or Western Kentucky (they did however beat Xavier by 20). Public remembers recent games and the oddsmaker had no choice but to make Memphis the favorite. UCLA is perceived also be lucky to have made the final four while Memphis has dominated. I think the value lies with a tried and tested UCLA team. We will see.

all i know is that the public doesnt bet game as soon as lines are posted (in this case a week before tip)

the opening line was pick-em

now

it's memphis -1.5/2

who moved that line? the public morons who just saw memphis and bet them sunday night when the line was released or the heavy hitters?

not to get too in depth but all the vegas power numbers show memphis having a slight edge so this talk of the line being way off is pure bs

i for one wont lay the points but will money line it because i do think it's a fairly even game and dont want to lose if memphis wins by 1 and dont want to push if they win by 2

There also has to be something said for UCLA being in the Final Four the last 3 years. Experience does play a part. Just because Memphis hit some free throws the last few games doesn't mean we can forget their woes at the line, especially what many of us perceive to be a very tight game.

Good luck to all.

As far as the public, one major site that I just checked has 59% on UCLA to win the game versus 41% for Memphis. That sounds like the public is on UCLA to me.

Wow where to start......

I am so pumped up about this game.

Who in their right mind would bet on poor little Memphis from Conf USA against the mighty Bruins of UCLA with the likes of Hall of Famers - Lew Alcinder and Walton (no not Luke). After all this is a storied program steep in history, tradition and titles.

Give me a break. I don't give a rat's axx what conf these teams are from or their tourney history or that this is UCLA's 3rd or 4th or 20th straight time in the FINAL FOUR its about the team they are putting on the floor this year and how well they are playing right now. LOVE and COLLISON are great players but Westbrooke and Shipp are so inconsistent if they played for Memphis, Calipari wouldn't even start them.

I thought ATM had UCLA knock out of the tourney on March 22 before UCLA and the refs came back and sqeeked out a 51-49 pt win.

I think Memphis -2 is a gift.

Disclaimer - None of this is directed at anyone here either. I am just pupmped up about this game and wish it was going off in 30 minutes not 7 hours.

The public is on Memphis State and why not? Everyone saw them destroy Michigan State and Texas while UCLA just plodded along and beat Western Kentucky and impressively beat Xavier by 20. The money has been coming in on Memphis all week and that has came from three people in Las Vegas.

Congrats to the Memphis State backers. The public was on Memphis State but that doesn't matter. They were right. I made the UCLA money back on Kansas and then some.

I stand corrected. UCLA is a great team. They finally got exposed for the sham that they are. :mj07: Love would be lucky to make an NBA roster, he better stay for 4 years. Collision... what can be said. I guess he should have stuck with track. They are who we thought they were.
