It sounds like Bill Self to Okie State is going to happen. Not 100% but there has been contact, the offer is something like 10 years $40 million plus, and Self certainly has not said NO. Not sure if the team really knows or if it will have an impact on them - but something to consider.

Self could prove to be an honorable man................. like your buddy Les Miles;)

But really, why would anyone leave Kansas for any job not located in Durham, Chapel Hill or Westwood:shrug:

He won't, it's just Okla. St. putting the rumor out there to act like they have a chance with a big name coach. They want the aura out there for other coaches that OSU is a marquee job when it actually isn't. Why would anyone go to a school that gives their coaches 2 years to show improvement and is run by a oil billionaire and an AD with no previous experience.

I heard the rumor of $40M for 10 years is true. However, KU will probably raise Self's pay to $2.5M and Self really likes the KU AD, Lew Perkins. If it's all about money, he's gone. However, Self won't be able to recruit the same at Oklahoma State and do you really think he wants to become the next Eddie Sutton? No offense to Pokes fans, but KU is the FAR better job.

I could see Self leaving to coach the Oklahoma City basketball team although most college coaches struggle in the NBA.

Bill Self will be a Cowboy come next season. He wants to end up back in Stillwater and now is his chance. It is not an all bad thing if you are in Selfs situation with that amount of money on the table and Ostate is looking to get back on the map and they will if Self jumps on board. The reson Sean had 2 years is because the Sutton family is not that well liked around OSU for some reason. The man with all the money and a guy that goes by the name Holder get what they want and they dont really want anything to do with the Suttons so go Self and we look forward to seeing you in black and orange.:00hour

Wishful thinking but I'd be willing to bet just about anything that it isn't going to happen. Way too big of a drop in program prestige for him to make the move. I think it's funny that all of the Okie Dokie Pokies really think that a coach of Self's caliber would end up at their school. Self going from Kansas to Okla. St. is like if Mack Brown went from Texas back to his alma mater, Vanderbilt.:mj07:

Mack Browns alma mater is Florida State.

And yeah it isnt Kansas, but Okie State isnt a bad historical hoops program. Heck the frunk got them to the FF twice.

Self was an Okie Dokie Pokie as you call them and still is at heart. He is not from Kansas. Whether you want to believe it or not money talks. 40mil and coaching at a place he loves. Could very well happen. Should be interesting!

I have to agree it could happen. If Self wins a title and leaves, I think KU fans will be happy. If he leaves after losing tonight, then some fans will be pissed.

I'm not sure Self is worth $40M or more... just my thoughts. I know he's one of the best, but there are other coaches who could take his place and do very well at Kansas.

Self said late Monday night that if Oklahoma State called, he'd listen.

"That's my alma mater," he said.

You're right, he graduated from Florida St. after attending Vanderbilt for a couple of years, but I think my analogy is still spot on. Historically, outside of Pokie fans, there isn't much historical value of Okla. St. basketball. Before Sutton they had not been to a final four in over 50 years. Currently I think Vanderbilt football is in a much better state than Pokie basketball which is pretty scary. I also think that the only reason Self is saying he would listen to Okla. St. is for leverage to renegotiate his contract. Greed is definitely out there, but these coaches are too big of egomaniacs to make such a big drop in programs and the ability to win championships. They're talking about Eddie Sutton taking his name off of the court because of the unprofessional way the university handled his son's firing. He won't ever do it because he's too big of an egomaniac. Here in the next week it will be anounced that Self has turned down the Okla. St. job and has signed a long term contract being paid about 2.5 a year and then Okla. St. has screwed themselves and lost more time for actually thinking they can get such a big name coach. Just my opnion.

Like no other university's pump millions into there athletic facilities. Just so happens these millions came from one person. And no doubt it will help recruit.
And yea if Oklahoma State Bill wants to come. Bring him on.

Sorry you can't understand a simple analogy, I guess that's your problem. The scary part is that Vanderbilt has a better football program, in comparison to other football programs, than Okla. St.'s basketball program, when compared to other basketball programs. I'll get my 5 year old cousin to send you an email if you still don't understand.
