? The Rangers turn the crank on the pitching carousel once again, and the pitchers line up to take a turn.
Scott Feldman will go around today. Eddie Guardado won't get his chance until Friday. Kason Gabbard is going to have to wait two weeks. And since Wednesday's starter, Luis Mendoza, didn't last through the second inning, there could be even more guys waiting to get on board. Gabbard is going on the disabled list with a stiff back, the result of slipping on the mound at Fenway Park on Monday.
He will be replaced by Feldman, who will make his second spot start of the season and then immediately be sent back to Double-A Frisco. Guardado, who has been ready to be activated from the DL since Tuesday, will replace Feldman on the roster Friday.
By having Feldman start today, the Rangers can also push Jason Jennings' start back two days to Saturday. Jennings had his first quality start of the year Saturday in Boston, but the Rangers have been monitoring him closely since he had elbow surgery last year.
"He can use every extra day right now we can get him," manager Ron Washington said of Jennings. "It just gives him some more time to get the soreness out of his body."
Gabbard had hoped to avoid the DL but conceded his back was too stiff for him to throw his typical bullpen session Wednesday.
Guardado had hoped to be activated Tuesday, but the Rangers called up Frank Francisco instead. Guardado was told he'd be activated Wednesday, but the Gabbard injury and the need for a spot starter pushed that back also.
"I'm ready," Guardado said. "It's out of my hands. But whenever they need me, I'm ready."
