BATON ROUGE, La. - LSU quarterback Ryan Perrilloux, who had legal and disciplinary problems throughout his college career, was kicked off the team.

Coach Les Miles said Perrilloux "didn't fulfill his obligation as an LSU student-athlete." Perrilloux was a backup to Matt Flynn for the Tigers, the defending national champions.

"Ryan was given every opportunity to be a part of this football team," Miles said Friday.

In 12 games last season, Perrilloux completed 51 of 75 passes for eight touchdowns and two interceptions.

Perrilloux, who was suspended by the Tigers last summer, was on the fringe of a counterfeiting investigation and was caught trying to enter a Baton Rouge casino with false identification. He also was involved in a fracas at a nightclub in November, but was cleared of wrongdoing.

Miles suspended Perrilloux again in mid-February after he missed a team meeting, skipped some classes and was late for a handful of conditioning workouts. Perrilloux had to meet academic requirements and do extra conditioning work before he was reinstated April 6, in time to go with the Tigers to meet President Bush at the White House.

Perrilloux was not allowed to play in LSU's spring game.

Before his last reinstatement, Miles said Perrilloux had been doing better with his classwork. During the spring, redshirt freshman Jarrett Lee and junior Andrew Hatch split time as the quarterback of the Tigers.

Perrilloux is expected to finish out the spring semester, LSU said.

Failed drug test.

Will probably end up being another 2 day suspension

He is exactly the scumbag I said he was a long time ago.

Lots more rumors swirling around now....supposedly one is that the reason he got so many chances is because he has lots of dirt on recruiting violations but Les had no choice w a failed drug tests. Per the rumor Lyin Ryan and his family are now going to spill the dirt including about a booster that had been giving cash to the family....

None of it would surprise me. Edwin Edwards would be proud. And all this right after convicted felon Billy Cannon gets into the College HOF.

Of course Cie ....no reason to think anybody in college sports is dirty much less LSU.

Les was one step ahead of the NCAA in Stillwater....I dont know if the rumor I am hearing is true....but what I KNOW of things Les did at Okie State it would be absolutely no surprise.

At Jazz Fest all day. Ate Cochon de lait po-boy, soft shell crab po-boy, oyster/blue cheese spinach salad, pheasant/quail gumbo, and mango sorbet :)

LSU OL and DL will be best this decade, so a QB that eliminates mistakes should do nicely-----> i.e. Matt Flynn and Matt Mauck. Big arm guys like Rohan Davey and Jamarcus Russel won BCS bowls games @ LSU, but were unable to eliminate mistakes through the course of a rigorous SEC schedule to lead the Tigers to BCS title game. Andrew Hatch and Jarret Lee are 1-2. Hatch runs well, and is older. Its a 2 horse race for the QB job, with a true frosh in third.

@Aub week 4 and @Fla week 6 will be tests for the inexperienced QBs. Weak OOC schedule next season may help get reps for the QBs in prep for SEC schedule...

Ohio but not a Buckeye
I'm happy to see Miles do this. I know that he's a prized player, but sometimes you get to the point where you have to make a point. Miles can't let his program become the next Jail U, I mean, Miami U.
