This is for all the Dads on here.

I'm a single guy that parties all the time and has never thought about kids, until now.
I left work early today and my Brother phoned me and asked me to look after my niece for a few hours. At first i was HUH! me, I guess so. I thought shit, what boring afternoon am I in for.

When i arrived there his wife had a business appointment to attend to and there I was, all alone with this 3 year old. I wasn't sure what to expect.

We played marbles, had a tea Party, I showed her how to catch Butterflies in the backyard.
I have to admit, I had a great time and at the end of the day, when, I was going home she started to cry. She said Uncle Matt don't go
"please stay or I'll be sad"
I didn't think anything of it until I got home.

And thats when it really hit me. WOW! this little person wants me and I had such a great time with her, who woulda thunk it?

I really did have a great afternoon and can't wait to babysit again.

All the Dads on here, you guys are lucky.

Have to agree - there is nothing like coming home from work and seeing my 14 month olds face - it lights up he starts waving saying dada and b-lines it to me - gives me a kiss - it is truely unreal.

Glad you had a good time with your niece. Children that have a sense of family are far better off imo. My daughter will be 24 this year which means I'll be 29, of course, but GF has mentioned having a baby here recently.

Don't really miss her that much either:shrug:

Hope this helps,

FDC

It's different when you get to leave after awhile and are only responsible for the entertainment portion of the day.

Happy you had a lot of fun, I do most days with mine too... but its a lot different when you are chasing them because they wiped poop on your suitcoat and tell you what a great fingerpainting they made you.
