Better not have 2 other undefeated teams out there.

Nonconference:
Nevada,UMass,SMU,and E.Wash.

Not exactly respectful.

Texas Tech will be good, but undefeated? I see a few potential losses.

@ Kansas - Won't be easy. If Kansas gels on the offensive line, they'll be tough

@ Kansas State - Another difficult game. Manhatten, KS is like Lubbock. A place you only want to visit.

vs. Texas - Horns have struggled @ Lubbock, but they have the talent to win this game.

@ Oklahoma - TT might be a double digit dog.

If all the stars are aligned, they might be perfect, but I HIGHLY doubt it.

its great to be discussing ncaaf!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i think with harrel/crabtree and the rest they will score on anybody and unlike recent years they look to have a very good defense[ at least on paper] with the juco's and returning upper classmen..odd are too great to pass up and ok is my backup plan..gl

You also have to include the fact OU is the only game were they will most likely be big dogs. I still think the games @ Kansas and vs. Texas will be very tough, but Texas Tech could be favored in both games (not that being favored means much).

I am the guy here who is always touting Tech...but the push for these guys this season is out of control. WIll their defense be better than usual? Yes...but not BCS good. They always lose a game they shouldnt and this year wont be any exception...and while its a long ways away as things stand now they arent winning in Norman.

And the OOC schedule is its usual joke and wont have them well prepared. They would have to be one of 2 unbeaten teams to even sniff a title game. And a 1 loss USC/Ohio State probably will be above them...but thats all talk as they arent going unbeaten.

TT will start the year 6-0. I dont think they will have a problem beating KSU, even on the road.

But it gets interesting after that.

Raiders might have the hardest sandwhich game of anyone else in the country.

They play at A/M on 10/18 and host Texas on 11/1. Blood, fight to the death rivals.

Oh yeah, but go to Kansas on the Saturday in between that. I would be stunned if they got out of that stretch unscathed.

At Oklahoma on 11/22.

It would be a breakthrough for TT to even be in the discussion for an at large BCS invite a la Missou and KU last year. It would be historic if they just win their division with only texas and ou winning the south this decade.

from sports illustrated:

DEFENSE
Ruffin McNeal started to transform the defense over the second half of last season and now the potential is there for a huge season. There's speed to burn on the corners, a good trio of relatively young linebackers to work around, and a defensive line that would be the team's strength if it wasn't for the high-octane passing game. Pass rusher extraordinaire Brandon Williams is about to become a superstar while tackles Colby Whitlock and Rajon Henley each have All-Big 12 potential. As good as they are, they'll all have to fight to hang on to their jobs with top junior-college transfers Brandon Sesay, Broderick Marshall and McKinner Dixon all good enough to start. The defensive back seven is designed to get the most speed and athleticism on the field as possible, and it should pay off with a secondary that should be as good as the one that led the Big 12 last year. Now the run defense has to be better.

Defensive Line: Last year's biggest concern could be one of this season's biggest defensive strengths. There's All-Big 12 caliber talent in end Brandon Williams and tackles Rajon Henley and Colby Whitlock, but the starting four will likely be vastly different once the season starts than it was in the summer with junior-college transfers Brandon Sesay, Broderick Marshall and McKinner Dixon all expected to push for jobs, if not take over. Potentially, this could be the best line in the Mike Leach era, and it might not even be close.

Linebackers: Compared to last year when the linebackers were a bit of a question mark, there's nothing but upside in this year's corps with excellent speed and quickness on the outside in Bront Bird, Marlon Williams, Blake Collier and Tyrone Sonier, and there are two true middle linebackers to stop the run in Brian Duncan and Victor Hunter. This will be an ultra-aggressive, very interesting unit.

Secondary: The Big 12's best pass defense should reload. Losing top tackler Joe Garcia hurts, but Anthony Hines and Lance Fuller should be able to handle themselves. Darcel McBath is a strong veteran free safety while Jamar Wall is one of the league's rising star corners. The key will be to harness all the speed on the outside to find a star No. 2 corner to take advantage of teams staying away from Wall.

Special Teams: There are question marks at kicker, needing to find a steady replacement for Alex Trlica, but the punting should be set for the next three years with Jonathan LaCour looking like a keeper. The return game will be more than fine after averaging 11.56 yards per punt return and 21.94 yards on kickoff returns.

GL Nutz....I just can't see TT going undefeated.
I would say that they may lose two games, most definitely at Oklahoma, and perhaps to A&M.
We'll see, the season is almost here boys!
