MSNBC continued its ratings surge last week, with viewers flocking out of the "No Spin Zone" and to "The Place for Politics." For the first time ever, MSNBC's "Countdown with Keith Olbermann" was the #1 show at 8 p.m., out-drawing Fox News's "O'Reilly Factor" head-to-head among Adults 25-54. This is the first time since June 2001 that MSNBC has out-rated "The O'Reilly Factor" at 8 p.m.

Excluding Tuesday's primary coverage, "Countdown with Keith Olbermann" averaged 477,000 A25-54 vs. 472,000 for the "Factor."

MSNBC also out-drew Fox News Channel for the week in primetime (June 2-8, M-F, 8-11 p.m.), averaging 496,000 Adults 25-54 vs. 449,000. This is the first time MSNBC beat FNC for the week in primetime since Feb. 25, 2008, when MSNBC telecast exclusive coverage of the Democratic candidates debate. Prior to that, the last time MSNBC beat FNC in primetime was the week of July 30, 2001.

The 25-54 demographic is the holy grail of programming, as it's that group that buys stuff, hence making them valuable to advertisers. Including all viewers, O'Reilly's elderly audience still likely swamps Olbermann. But even on that front, Olbermann has been chipping away.

It's clear that Fox News isn't immune to the conservative malaise spreading through the land.

And it's also clear that Olbermann is one of the chief beneficiaries of the progressive wave sweeping the land.

KO is good at ripping into O'Reilly, but that guys is too over-the-top for me. If he toned it down, I'd probably watch him, but I know he's just the left version of Fox News.

These liberals are amusing as hell Clint-

The $64,000 question is are they that clueless and naive and sipping the daily KOS kool aid because they flat believe it or just doing their best lemming immitation and tagging along.

How many friggin times does one have to point out the deception of this outfit--to make them think just a tad before they throw this shit up and are exposed once again.

Anyone with just a bit of wit knows oreilly (or sub) pulls in in excess of 2 mil viewersw a night so you think they ask themselves why/how is KOS only showing 400,000.

Let me give them a fact and see if they can :grouphug: a collectively figure out what their liberal outlet omitted to tell them--

O"reilly
Rating - 1.8
Total Viewers - 2,150,000
25-54 Demo - 420,000

DUH HELLO:mj16:

If you want make it a race- add cnn totals with them and try and get "somewhat" competative. :)

IMO, both O'Reilly and Olberman are manipulators of the facts, if not outright liars.

That said, I find it hysterical that the ratings are being dissected here in an effort to prop up Olberman. Facts are facts, more people are being snowed by O'Reilly than Olberman. Who cares if those being snowed are 25-54 or 54 and up??

Too true.

I dont spend more than a minute or two on TV news. Its terrible journalism, but I am an old school, damn the government whiskey drinking writer......so maybe I cant relate to these propaganda artists on TV, most of whom would rather be part of the power circle, than confront the powerful.

Anyway, just wanted to drop a hello to you Cie.....only 72 days away until our favorite sport kicks up again.....then we can move out of this here forum and get down to business!!

Good luck to the Tigers this weekend! :weed:

:mj07: I just do it to break Dogs balls that is it. I couldn't careless who is getting ratings. But i will ask you this or anyone else. Show me were Olberman lies? I know he goes after liars but i like to see at least one or two of his lies. I have to agree with Gary tho the constant bashing of O'Lielly is a bit to much but he does give Kieth a lot of material. And again when the democrats pussed out after getting elected in 06 to end the war he let them have it big time. Why? Cause they lied.

Since somebody here wanted to add CNN to the mix to compare, I will, and then the good guys will have a fairly large majority of daily individual viewers. I mean, if we really care about who has the largest audience and all...:SIB

It's not how big your audience is that matters, it's what you do with it.;)
