What do you make of this one?

The only book Ive found offering lines is 5d, I took a small play Barret +190, and am curious how this line will move.

The line at 5 dimes opened at -120 for them both so it has already moved plenty. Must be a few $100 Tye bettors out there LOL.

Fields sucks. Suprised books offered this matchup considering Fields resumee.

All his bouts have been set ups. Tough to bet this fight, but at Monty +250 you have to.

$100 limits though.

Can this bout possibly not be fixed for a Tye win? Line is ridiculous if the fight is legit.

Fightwriter has a great article up about this, basically saying noone knows what to make of this fight and the books are being cautious, but many sound boxing guys would play Barrett at the right line.

At +278 I can't turn this down.

Joey-
Unrelated I know, but are there going to be odds on the Fields and Monte fight tomorrow night? I think that could be one of the most entertaining fights on the card.

I wouldnt offer a Tye Fields bout for wagering if I had next days paper....a Tye Fields fight was my 1st experience with getting fuked bad on bookmaking side with a 'suspect' bout....and **** it sure was suspect....so bad that ESPN was even complaining.... if they saw who bet on Fields that night....the tranfer of funds etc.....and for how much....this goof would never step foot in ring again....unless it was on an episode of OZ...

If the fights legit.....dogs sure live.... shit....Tye dont belong -300 over Dean Lister in a BOXING MATCH... but anyways.....fuk Tye Fields ..I like my money.

I think you guys are all correct and one thing is unanimous. It looks like people with some knowledge think it might be one of a long line of BS bouts for Tye.

If the fighst legit +278 is a great price.

Thanks for posting that MCostello, I remember reading a Thomas Hauser article about the shady ESPN fight, can't remember the opponent's name. Hauser thought Fields wasn't informed if something shady was going on, he trained hard and fought his fight, expecting nothing unusual.

Is that the same Joey frequently referenced here, the one who releases the lines? I'm still new to the betting scene. Do you mind telling me the forum? I'd like to read his comments.

maybe the under 6.5 is the smart play here?

If the bout is fixed, no way will Barrett hang around for 7 rounds before taking the dive.

I guess thats the 'scalp' :142smilie . If the fight is legit, Barrett +280 is amazing. If it's fixed, under -140 looks guaranteed.

Barret went long with Valuev. So it still worries me. Nothing I would want alot of risked money on.

That fight site the posts are from is mixedmartialarts.com. The UG it is often refered to as by Joe Rogan and others on UFC telecasts.

I go on there as well but I use my real name. Great site

The thing about Barrett is that he likes to trade punches alot and take unnecessary risks. He could have a better record if he fought smart. I wouldnt bet on him normally but in this fight as a dog he may be worth a small wager (which seemingly is all the sportsbooks will offer)

I bet Barrett BIG at -250 against Owen Beck a few years ago and he got clobbered with some big shots late in the fight that nearly made me shit myself. Fights down to his opponents level far too often. Did it with Kirkland, Mesi, Beck.....
Will probably do it against Fields too.

I understand the whole "fixed" angle you all speak of, but the kicker here is the +250 odds. Sure there's a chance the fight is rigged, just like every other fight I've ever bet on...lol

Look at it this way, whenever you take an underdog in boxing, there's a reason why your guy is an underdog. In this situation, the reason Barrett is an underdog is b/c everything points to a promotional influence based win for Fields. So you play Barrett small at big + money and hope he bucks the odds. If you lose on a bogus decision, so be it, it wouldn't be the first time and it won't be the last

I'm taking Barrett at +250 but only a small wager so I don't get pissed if the decision goes the other way

gw...now that you got the high-speed internet connection you should check these out...streamtvnow and tvandsportstreams

I'm a member at both sites, and for about $6 a month you can watch all the PPV events here (boxing and mma) and you can get all the Germany/England boxing cards. Yes, you have to watch on your computer monitor, but its still a very clear picture

I've saved over $1,000 a year in PPV fees since I became a member at these sites

box...how do you fund these sites?...i`m a little apprehensive about throwing credit card numbers at places that could scam a guy and leave him little recourse...

thanks...

We have seen Tye many times in Vegas. Basically a slow, plodding, lumbering mook who gets matched with mutts he can beat. Barrett can KO this bum if he is allowed to. Tye moves about as fast as molasses going uphill in the North Pole. I like Monte "two gunz" here, but as I tanked real bad two nites ago, my opinion may be worth less than a hill of beans.

Truer words may have never graced this forum in my time here. Every sharp guy I chat with says same.

I threw a buck on Barret. Fields is HORRIBLE but looks like the promotion is priming him for a bogus title shot. I'm leery of the line but +250 can't be turned down.
