Cranking it up once again.

Kent State +10 vs BC 2 units

In Julian Edelman, Kent State has one of the better dual threats at quaterback in the nation. Hampered by a torn PCL last year, he was clearly not the player we saw in the past. He then broke his arm in week 8 and was sidelined the rest of the season. He also has the very talented RB Eugene Jarvis to carry the ball. At just 5'5'' 170 Lbs. Jarvis is the nations top returning running back demonstrated by his 139 yard per game and 6 yards per rush in '07.

Kent returns 15 starters from a talented team that was totaly decimated by injuries in '07. This may be the greatest time of all to catch BC after the graduations of Ryan and their top RB's from last year.If healthy, Kent has a chance to make some real noise this season and I'm hoping that it starts in week one.

Western Mich +14 at Nebraska 2 units

Western returns 19 starters from '07 and Cubit will have them very well prepared. The Bronc's won outright at Iowa last year and should be very competitive in this game. It will be interesting to see how long it will take for Pelini to restore the swagger in the blackshirts because WMU can really move the ball.

Other plays, all for one unit each:
Miami -4 vs Vandy
Miami under 41
Wisconsin -26' vs Akron
Wisconsin over 53'

On Kent St as well. Nice spot with BC struggling to find their new identity. GL this season:weed:

Spang - hope all is well. Have you talked with JR lately? Give me a call during the show so we can get the MAC angle! We would love to have you on again on Friday.

Really like WMU and quite frankly, think that if not for Pelini debut and the emotion out there, they are the better team. Would not surprise me at all to see them win outright. This is my #1 play this week.

Good luck this year Spang:00hour

Hey Skipper, Still waiting for my prize for the 3-0 that I gave you guys last year  Just joking.

No I have not heard squat, I can fire an email and ask a couple of guys and I'll let you know if I hear anything. I'll try to listen in when I can, but I can't speak well for awhile. I had cervical surgery last week and my vocal cords were abused in the process. It will pass but it will take a while. Good luck with the show this year, you guys starting it up this week??

Thanks Cie, best of luck to you.

Real strange on JR. I tried calling him a few times, but nothing. Hope all is well with your surgery and the recovery goes well.

I think if I remember correctly, you lost the tiebreaker by a point or two because we talked about it for a while.

Show is every week from 4-6PM. We actually never stopped so we are rolling strong

Spang, you layin off the Buffalo-UTEP game completely?

Probably, Just don't know enough about UTEP to make an informed decision. I do know that they have the Longhorns coming into town next week so I would guess it may be easy to overlook the Bulls. That would be huge mistake as Gill has done a terrific job and RB Starks is a very special talent.

It will be the bulls or nothing and I'm leaning towards letting this one pass.

Bulls ought to be a compelling story this year. Could these dormants rise up and win their division and make a bowl game? I think they have a good shot to do that.....on paper at least.

It'll be interesting to see how they match up tomorrow night. If they get a win, I see a 7-win season at least. No reason to think they cant duplicate last year's 5-3 league mark.

Here's something interesting: Tomorrow night will only be the fifth time they've ever been favored in a game......but it will be the fourth time in their last 7 games dating back to last year.

I'm pulling for them. Their final 5 games are all league games, played in midweek, most on ESPN. So, if UB does have a Cinderella ride into MAC and bowl contention, it will play out on TV.....and I am sure we'll be discussing it in an open thread on some random Wednesday night come November! :0corn

Anyway.....Spang, good luck this season. Cant wait for your MAC, and other insights, as the season progresses. :toast:

Can we make fun of their fat girls if that happens?

Yes, of course.........i'm pulling for them as a football team because those kids have done a lot of losing......but maybe a winning record and a bowl game will bring in a better set of, uh, "talent" with the next crop of freshmen co-eds!!

This is the banner for the Bull's womens track and field squad, and its very representative of the gals in blue and white that would board the busses headed to the Mac tourney.

The slogan for the team is a winner:

Bulls women track and field, catch them before they catch you.

How true ! :scared :scared

I'm taking a wait and see attitude about NIU. As you probably know they are bringing in a first year coach,Jerry Kill who had great success at SIU on the 1AA level. They have offensive talent but last season their defense was abysmal (11th over all) in a poor defensive league in general. Their DBs all have experience and could actually be the biggest strength of the unit, but I'll have to see that to believe it. I suspect that the gophers will be able to move the ball very well against them all day long.

They have a lot of guys returning, and have the potential to be a big surprise in the tough west division, but I'll have to watch them play a couple games to see what Kill gets out of them.

Good luck
