Actually, Obama did tell a lot about what he plans to do, and some of it he explained how he would go about doing it. He really did a good job of tackling some issues that few really even talk about, and he explained things in a different way in some cases. In ways that common-folk can appreciate and understand. Of course all of us know that a lot of what is said in these speeches are not going to happen nor can't happen the way they are laid out - but he did a great job of being Presidential, showed how and why, and appealed to voters of all kinds. Well, all kinds but 5% of Americans, anyway.
The family angles of both he and Biden should go a long way in beating the crap out of the family values angle the Republicans simply are disarmed with in this election with McCain. Biden's mom, Barack's family unit (the daughters are wonderful), etc., are a refreshing change and really gives people a warm feeling - or at least those that don't think he's a muslim (

I honestly think that Obama could be one of those once or twice in a lifetime Presidents (with Biden's help) that really change a country in memorable ways. I look at this election in much the same way of the first Bush win, after Clinton. I think dems were tired of defending Clinton with his transgressions and did not fight hard for the lukewarm choice they had to support. I think with republicans in many ways it's exactly the same scenario - tired of Bush and defending that regime, and not jazzed about McCain. Many who spoke very badly about him and called him a democrat/liberal, and now have to support him after all that.
The thing that really struck me about the crowds and reactions this week are things that could be a change in the country. I really saw pride and hope in the black people that were in attendance, and the fact that a black person could be elected President could very well start some new thinking and perhaps even action in the black community. The thug-rap focus and worship of the past few years will actually have a positive competitor for the minds of the young people, and older people. Someone who has already come out and challenged that culture and asked them to step up and be more responsible. Will it be a big thing? Maybe not, but it is something different, and has to be a positive thing. Of course, for those that fear blacks and the movement in general, it probably is scary, I dunno.
Just some rambling thoughts that many won't agree with. I know I really like Joe Biden, and those two together really make me feel good about what could be a good team to lead this country in some difficult times.
