I don't know if any of you had issues with your wonderful "stimulus" check, but I had.
I was shorted $300 for my child, due to using the IRS software for filing. The IRS was "aware" of this glich on over 300,000 filer's refunds, and was correcting it. Because of that fact, they did not want taxpayers calling and flooding their phone lines......they asked for anyone (me) with this issue to please wait, and a paper check for the difference owed would be issued by the end of July.
Well, I waited, and even gave then a few extra weeks. I called two weeks ago, and was on hold for 27 minutes before someone answered. It was, let's say......an African American sounding woman, who asked me all my personal info, what my issues concerned, etc. After ten minutes of this, she transfered me to customer service.
Okay. Who the hell was I talking to in the first place?????? Now, I'm on hold for another ten minutes, and someone answers, and askes, "how may I direct your call?" I should have taken this as a hint that I was not talking to "customer service", but rather started telling my situation. I was imediately put back on hold, and sent back to the initial recording that I was on for 27 minutes about an hour ago!
I hung up.
Where the fuk do they find these monkies?
Well, I called back again last night, and after being on hold for 57 minutes this time, got a nice southern gent. (Anytime I've had to deal with the IRS on the phone, the guys always seem to know their shit......go figure.)
I told him my plight, and he said many people don't understand the "formula", and think they have more coming than they actually do, but he would see. (Hold, please!) Well, another 10 minute hold, but waht do you know!? This guy tells me I AM entitled to the $300. Not only that, but he's going to see, "what he can do". (Hold, please!) 7 minutes this time!
"Well, sir......You are entitled to the money, but the deadline to claim it has passed".
Wait a minute. What? What "deadline"? I explained that "you people" told me not to bother them, and that I would be getting a check! Nothing was ever sent out in the mail with the other ridiculous mailers we got telling us of a "deadline". He told me that there are so many claims, that they have to have a cutoff.
Read that again. The IRS made this huge fuk up, and "this is too big for us to fix, you're outta luck!"
He goes on to tell me that I WILL get my money, but it will be in the form of a tax reduction on my 2008 tax return. The IRS will have a form explaing what I am supposed to do to claim the money!
I can't wait..................:0corn
Enjoy your day, boys!
