He was also impressive against Rutgers. I think theres plenty of reason now for the books to bump this up to a FG if they need to.

How's this Rutgers/NC game make you feel about Wisconsin -2 at Fresno?

Capping by the transitive property has never proven succesful in my experience. It is the way I started out as a capper at the age of 14. Boy, did I get my ass kicked for years. GL:weed:

I like Fresno here as of now....Wisky got down early last week and had to come roaring back for a big win. That was at home.....this is on the road in a pretty hostile environment. Fresno is a good team with a great coach! Just because Rutgers got blown out doesn't mean Fresno isn't as good as people thought they were. Maybe Rutgers is just a pretty bad team this year? They don't impress me so far....

All this game did for me really was continue to expose Rutgers as a team on its way down and UNC as a team on its way up. The downside of the blowout is it is something the oddsmakers will surely react and adjust to. Example: UNC will be favored against VT next week. Over the summer, I am sure you could have found a +4, 5 or even higher for the home dog there.

Now, as to any possible knee jerk reaction to the big Wisco/FSU game Saturday night. Remember, tonight's game played out almost the same way the FSU/Rutgers game did. Pushed by the home crowd RU was the better team for a quarter or more. Lacking the bread and butterplay of Rice they could not take advantage. When the visitors regained their footing and got their own mojo going, they pushed by RU with ease. The score differential in the two games is just cosmetics.

But, a good point is raised about a line movement. I could see a lot of the public downgrading FSU because RU does not look great now. It could get to 3 as a result. I do know however the game ends up, Fresno's resume to the voters and to the computer formulas wont look as strong if the Rutgers game becomes less and less impressive. Thas pretty important to follow if Fresno keeps winning into the fall.

As for my pick/lean: I always take Pat Hill's team as an OOC dog, and I will probably go for it again on Saturday nght.

No offense, TP. I read your stuff every week and respect the hell outta you, but....no fawking way is UNC favored. :nono:

Let's see what Va Tech does this weekend...as I expect myself like many other people will be disappointed. :( Let's not kid ourselves, Va Tech is not the "down and out" program that Vegas would have us believe.... Remember, they "give a little away" on the first few weeks to make it back later. :SIB

Oh man. I think if VT loses outright this weekend. They will be the underdog at UNC.

...don't think that they will lose outright. They may look "good," as opposed to the general public perception. :scared

How's that for some learning, buddy, my steel-city friend?

Hey man, I always look around to see the insight you provide. But, I see this thread as more spirited repartee on college football capping than an educational resource. This line stuck out when I first saw it. Fresno will be at least a moderate play for me.

VT is one of my favorite plays this weekend, as well.

Go Steelers?

Not a problem Taoist......it might be a stretch for them to be favored, and I should have qualified my statement further by adding that they would be if Va Tech continues to look bad this week. I agree with my fellow TP in this thread that if the Hokies lose tomorrow, that UNC will be favored.

Overall, I made that post out of disappointment because I thought UNC would be a solid, semi under the radar, play this year, but getting a blow out like that on national TV will get the public behind them. I guess that was more of my point and I think we see a tighter line against VT next week, as opposed to seeing the Heels as a nice home dog.

Or, I was just so confused by the transitive property Cie dropped on us......that remains awesome.

Lets talk a transitive approach to capping football.

USC mangles Virginia with what I believe is a young football team with a load of new starters on both sides of the ball. Sanchez although obviously talented is still unproven in my humble opinion. OSU struggles to open the season against two inferior opponents. OSU returns 10 on the offensive side and 9 on the defensive side from a national championship contending team a year ago and a defense that statistically ranked in the among the best in college football in nearly every category.

In a transitive sense, can the line movement be reactive based on the events that took place for both teams earlier this season or is vegas spot-on?

2.5 now.

Heres some learning for you Taoist. If it sits at 2.5, bombs away on Fresno. It goes up to three, its either stay away if you like Fresno or a much safer bet on Wisconsin if you like them.
