Got a major wake up call yesterday as I got on the Doctor's scale. Heaviest I've ever been. Did real well on this diet a couple years back losing close to 30 lbs. Gained it all back and then some. Thought I might knock off a few pounds when I quit drinking over a year and a half ago, but now I actually eat 3 squares a day (at least) instead of a 5th of rum and dinner only. Some I talk to say this is bad for your body, but like I said, it's the only diet that ever worked for me and I'm now offically a fat ass.

Thanks for your input in advance....

Mully,
My 2 cents.....
After my playing days I had the same eating habbits but less activity so the pounds piled on. I started to work out again but did not see the results so I mixed and matched a few diets and found a nice fit. I had a slimfast shake for breakfast (because I rarely ate that meal so it was easy to do) Lunch I did a lean cuisen meal and ate a light dinner and I dropped 60 over the course of 12 months. And I was not working out a ton just some free weights and jogging about twice a week light pace. The key is moderation brother, good luck and I hope the pounds fall off.

Cheers

Mully, did that a few years back and I lost weight too but after a few weeks I was drained. They say it does more harm than good.

"Eat less and move more" works for me. I just do fruit during the day and it seems to work for me. I just think of that phrase and have an apple. GL

We had a weight loss competition at work which was 4 months long.

I started at 207 pds, I ate right (counted calories) and excercised. I limited myself to 2000-2500 calories per day and burned between 2000 - 3000 a week doing cardio

after 3.5 months I was down to 189 pds. So, I lost 18 pounds losing weight the way they teach you all through school (balanced healthy food... splurges every so often and exercise.

For the last 14 days, I cut out all carbs (I did the true atkins). I ate bacon, sausage, eggs, certain veggies. I had no more than 25 carbs a day. I did not exercise those 2 weeks at all. I lost 11.5 pounds in that 2 weeks. My body could tell it was missing something it needed and was used to

Once the competition was over I went back to my original plan of eating decent and exercising. Within 2 weeks, I put all 11.5 pounds back on.

If you are going to do low carb, do the south beach. You can have carbs, it just teaches you the difference between good carbs and bad carbs.

It is not the carbs you are taking in that is the problem, it is the type of carbs. Like someone said, cut out anything made with Bleach (flour, white bread, pasta). You need to have whole wheat pasta or whole grain bread.

Mully, go to Fitday.com and use that. It will take you a couple of weeks but once you know how much you can eat you'll be great. Find out what your maintanence calories per day are and cut from there. If you're not in a hurry, just cut 300 calories a day from your maintanence calories. It's very easy to do, 300 is nothing and you really won't notice it. For heavier weights it's not so much what you eat as it is how much you eat. If you ever get to the point where you're trying to get into lower digits of BF% then you'll have to start watching what it is you're eating.

Add a little cardio 3 days a week and you'll be able to drop the lbs and not have to worry about putting them back on.

PS if you do it this way, remember to adjust your maintance calories after losing weight or else you will stop because you'll be eating exactly what you need just to maintain it.
