He had, what? 23 or 24 debates during the primaries? Scared!

Where the f*ck do you people come up with this shit?

Yea but after he got crushed in the last one and lost footing in the polls.. he called off all the debates.

He also said no to McCain for townhall debates.

Other than asking him for a pillow, those "debates" were basically 5-7 clowns up there ranting like Keith Angrym:mad: n about what George Bush did 6 years ago.

It's not like we don't know where he stands.

Pro-terrorism
Pro-communism
Pro-sex education for 6-year olds

sheeesh

Don't think he has a clue where he stands from one day to next. While he has been campaigning for president most his senate time he's missed most issues--and 130 present votes in Ill senate isn't much of stance is it?

Only thing I can see he's been consistant on is retreat/defeat.

However was quite consistant in Ill on criminal rights--eg

I know it seems it has to be fabricated on him the only senator from Ill to vote no against keeping sex offenders from getting early release--however it was SB 485 (1999) here I'll make things easy on you from here on out and include the bill#

voted NO SB 381 (1997)
To require prisoners to pay court costs for frivolous lawsuits
against the state.

voted PRESENT SB 609 (2001)
To restrict the location of buildings with ?adult? uses
(meaning pornographic video stores, strip clubs, etc.) within
1,000 feet of any public or private elementary or secondary school, public park, place or worship, preschool, daycare
facility, mobile park or residential area

voted NO H1812 (1999)B
To require school boards to install software on public computers
accessible to minors to block sexually explicit material

YES SB 880 (2003)
To allow the purchase of 10 hypodermic needles from a
pharmacy without a prescription

voted yes SB 1733 (2003)
To impose a Gas Use Tax on the purchase of natural gas
from outside the state of Illinois for use or consumption in
Illinois. Forces the delivering supplier to pay 2.4 cents per
therm of gas, or the customer can elect to become a ?selfassessing?
purchaser and pay 5% of the purchase price or
2.4 cents per therm.

voted PRESENT HB 2000 (4659)
To establish a zero-tolerance drug-testing policy for
Department of Corrections Employees

but I believe we've had this discussion before--

And the Republican primary debates were nothing but 8 or 9 clowns getting schooled by Ron Paul. But the good citizens of Anytown, USA were too enthralled with John McCain's war record to let progressive ideas and Constitutional libertarianism sway them.

Back to the original thought here - I think the coming debates will be quite telling. I have no concerns whatsoever about how well Obama will come out looking against McCain, and how well Biden will fare against Palin.

The thing that concerns me, and it is a personal opinion, is that there were seemingly a lot of people who watched George Bush debate others and thought that he won those debates. Coming from a debate and speech background back in the day, I found that terribly wrong. Of course, it's not necessarily about pure debating abilities, but on those lines, he fared very poorly and still carried the day (with help from various entities, of course).

McCain:
Pro- bank and wallstreet deregulation, letting them run wild, police themselves, how's that working out?
pro- exporting jobs- DHL and Boeing deals
pro-lobbyists
pro-torture
pro-war-Iraq, bomb bomb bomb Iran
pro-smears even thou his family was smeared by the same people that are working with him now.
pro-big oil
pro-anti military
pro-anti woman rights

Debates coming up, McCain has been on both sides of the fence so often he doesn't know which side he is on now.

First presidential debate

McCain has topped both candidates, missing a staggering 58 percent of his votes during the 110th Congress, according to the Washington Post?s congressional votes database.

To put this in perspective, McCain has now missed more votes than Sen. Tim Johnson of South Dakota, who suffered a brain hemorrhage in December 2006 and was unable to return to the Senate until fall of last year. McCain has now missed nine votes more than Johnson.
