I see the game line listed at UNC -7.5. I know this is going to sound like a homer play, but I realy think that UNC will blow Notre Dame out of the water and win this game by double digits. I'd love to hear others opinions on this game.....but this will be my GOL (game of lifetime) jk of course. :mj07: UNC is a very very strong play though. I'm hoping that throughout the week that the line will come down because I really think that people will be on board with Notre Dame in this game. What do you all think?

Not sure I see a blowout. ND's offense is starting to really click.....conservative playcalling kept the stanford game from being a blow out as ND sat on a 28-7 lead. Clausen has formed a good group with Floyd, tate and Kumara. NC has been really good but kinda had a lopsided game against UConn because of turnovers.....I see this game being similar to the Miami-UNC game. Close game all the way and if nd avoids turnovers, I can see them pulling it out

I'm probably the biggest ND fan out there and here is my take on the game. I still think ND is too young at the skill positions to beat a quality UNC team on the road:

QB: Jimmy Clausen (True Sophmore)
RB: Armando Allen (True Sophmore), backup Robert Hughes is a true Sophmore
WR: Golden Tate (True Sophmore)
WR: Michael Floyd (True Freshman)
TE: Kyle Rudolph (True Freshman)

This team will be up and down all season long, but will improve each week. Their passing game continues to improve, but they have no run game whatsoever.... I think UNC will cover the seven points at home. If it was at ND I would say they could win, but too young to compete on the road. Just my two cents...

while out of town last weekend, i saw the stanford vs. nd (parts of it) & came away impressed with the irish. yet some bar patrons mentioned that most teams can beat ND if they just stay with the run where the domers are weak.

so I must ask NC fans, how is the tar heel running game?

its better and better every week. got a multiheaded monster really. our featured back will be Droughns. But we also have a bigger back in Houston, and Little was the opening few weeks starter, and will get several carries as well

While UNC is certainly athletic, hungry, confident, and playing at home, they also have some areas to exploit, such as...

They don't get a lot of sacks (ranked #93 nationally), while ND doesn't allow many sacks (#16 nationally). If Jimmy can stay on his feet, this is a big plus for ND.

Their rush defense, like ours, is vulnerable (UNC is ranked #67; ND is #59).

Their rush offense is not as bad as ours, but it's not much better (UNC is #89; ND is #105).

UNC's pass efficiency defense is #19 which is very strong, but they've faced McNeese State (a D-II team), Rutgers (#67 in passing offense), VA Tech (#113 in passing offense), Miami (#95 in passing offense), and Connecticut (#106 in passing offense).

For comparison's sake, ND's pass offense is #34 nationally.

Their o-line is struggling in pass protection (#91 nationally in sacks allowed).

And to top it off, they have a new QB in Sexton, who, while he's been in their system for a few years, is relatively untested. This will be his 3rd start since 2006, and he only has 20 completions in the last 2 games. He's also basically immobile from what I've seen, so between that, their poor rush offense, and his o-line's pass protection issues, he could have a tough time against ND's pressure-oriented blitz packages.

Not so fast boys. The Irish will come to play ball. All this UNC chatter seems suspicious. Ofcourse thats easy for me to say seeing how I backed a dogged UCONN on the road last weekend. Call it what you will but the line is inflated and ND falls within the number. Back the IRISH

Forecast for today's 3:30 kickoff is looking good. No rain and kickoff temperature should be 76 degrees or so, with just a few clouds in the sky. Great weather for football.
