Very disappointed, insofar as the polls had Prop 8 losing pretty handily.

If it can't pass in California, gay marriage might have a tough road the next 5-10 years.

It's unconstitutional to ban gay marriage. But the people have spoken. Maybe in another decade or so people (even in California) won't hate gays so much.

there is a thing called a civil union that provides the same rights as marriage.

gay marriage has been voted down, overwhelmingly everytime and everyplace it's put to a vote.

i dont need my kids being taught about gay marriage in the 1st grade and taken to a gay marriage ceremony without me having any say or recourse....which is exactly what this is all about.

I wouldn't say it was all that overwhelming this time. But like I said, the people have spoken.

Yeah, we need to protect the children from learning that gay people exist. It's a real problem that kids might be told that at some point that there are gay people. I this thing passed, then first graders all across the state would be learning about gay people at an alarming rate. ...Then again, I didn't know that part of the proposition included forcing 1st grade teachers to indoctrinate their students into the gay world.

Paranoid unrealistic discrimination. But the people have spoken. Your side won.

It's too bad that some questionable school policies cost gay people the right to get married.

I have read that it doesn't, in regards to a tax free transfer of property in the event of death.

And Arkansas voting down the adoptions is laughable. It's hard enough to find suitable and adequate parents for kids that need them, and now they are making that candidate pool even smaller.

read the statutes on the cail supers website that forces schools to teach about marriage in the 1st grade......pass this and it forces them to teach about gay marriage.....

or, go see the sf district + sf mayor taking 1st graders to a gay wedding a few months ago calling it a great teaching opportunity

somepne please explain to me why a 6 year old needs to be taught about gays, gay marriage, sexuality, homosexuality etc......teach them to read and write and stop confusing them.

why is that so hard?

plus, most gays i and my wife know have no interest in getting married....it's not a gay rights issue at all, it's a power play by the gay political groups looking for more power.

fixed your post for you.

No, it cost them the right... the desire is still there.

Again, I regret that disagreeing with how your 6 year old child's schools is run, cost gay adults the ability to get married.

I scarcely see how the issues are related in the first place.

However, I completely understand how this is a difficult issue for religious people.

Two gay men live on my block with their adopted son about 11 yo. Both men seem cool, although of of them is kind of kooky. The problem is they tell people the son is one of their nephews to shield him from discrimination. Sadly, I think it will end up far worse for the kid that they aren't honest. Can you imagine having to live a lie? I mean, isn't growing up difficult enough without this added pressure? Very unfair for the kid in this situation imo.
