The celebrations--chicago-times sqaure--are quit similiar to turnouts during campaigns--made remark in other thread at office I was at the bama bakers were all discussing history being made.

I got to thinking on drive back- I been through lots of elections and never saw such a hoopla--

--and unlike most elections it was not on political reasoning but as with media --simply on the fact that history had been made by electing a black person. Made me wonder if that was reason for so many voting for him or just an after thought--not trying to be a smart ass--but serously wonder which it was.

--however don't think everyone is celebrating--

People have a right to celebrate after 8 years of an anministration that has accomplished nothing except polarizing the american people, as well as the rest of the world. The topics you are bringing up are happening under the Bush Administration, as you would of never used the same yardstick when W first took office after Clinton.

What they are banking on includes a lame duck president with one of the worst approval ratings in history thus he is limited, a armed service force that is painfully spread out between two countries, and unfortunately, more than likely judging by past actions of the Bush administration a sloppy changing of the guard. Hopefully, Obama will take serious any pending threats exposed to him by the outgoing administration which is something that W and staff failed to do, as they were fixated on Iraq instead of internal terror threats that the ywere briefed on.

MC I spoke with Chad in other thread staing like GW and Bill he would be coming in at a down turn and good op as they did -as ecomonics only could improve. Don't think you can gauge eco policies for 2 years minimum--as takes at least year after any changes are made to see effect.

However doesn't have that luxury in foreign affairs--as what you do in bat of an eye can have huge effects--and he might need to remember how fickle public is--GW enjoyed one of highest rating ever after 911 (90%) but when the fear subsided so did the ratings. Amazing what years of negative press and complacency can do

I think your concern over foreign affairs is overinflated since W had zero experience in foreign affairs and you never questioned that fact. Biden, as well as future staff members I am sure will have enough experience to offset any foreign affair problems that befuddle Obama. I agree with you on the stages of the economic cycle, but this cycle will not turn around for at least 18 months in my opinion.
