NEWSWEEK has also learned that Palin's shopping spree at high-end department stores was more extensive than previously reported. While publicly supporting Palin, McCain's top advisers privately fumed at what they regarded as her outrageous profligacy. One senior aide said that Nicolle Wallace had told Palin to buy three suits for the convention and hire a stylist. But instead, the vice presidential nominee began buying for herself and her family?clothes and accessories from top stores such as Saks Fifth Avenue and Neiman Marcus. According to two knowledgeable sources, a vast majority of the clothes were bought by a wealthy donor, who was shocked when he got the bill. Palin also used low-level staffers to buy some of the clothes on their credit cards. The McCain campaign found out last week when the aides sought reimbursement. One aide estimated that she spent "tens of thousands" more than the reported $150,000, and that $20,000 to $40,000 went to buy clothes for her husband. Some articles of clothing have apparently been lost. An angry aide characterized the shopping spree as "Wasilla hillbillies looting Neiman Marcus from coast to coast," and said the truth will eventually come out when the Republican Party audits its books.

Fox News just said that McCain advisors were very concerned when they became aware that Palin didn't realize Africa was a continent, not just a country. Not the brightest bulb, but as Kosar says - that doesn't matter anymore.

McCain realizes that he made a error in picking Palin and the baggage she brought with her.

I haven't seen any baggage yet  Do you mean the made up trooper gate that she was cleared of?

I know there's absolutely no way to prove it, but I really believe that she gained McCain far more votes than she lost him. The thing is, McCain was non-electable. Nice guy, great patriot, a lifelong servant, but he just couldn't connect with enough voters.

She was irrelevant to his loss. She might have gained him a few votes, but she wasn't a factor either way, as strange as that seems.

Clint makes a good point about how he couldn't connect and that definitely played a part, but trying to overcome W (enough said) and the recent economic meltdown made it impossible for him to compete.

Seeing as all polling indicates she was a MAJOR negative on ticket & had the lowest VP nominee approval rating ever.

Really if this is future of the GOP, I actually feel sorry for them.

She wasn't a drag on his ticket. She was his only chance(after he picked her), but the whole thing was too far gone.

Just because 60% of people polled said that she wasn't qualified to be President doesn't mean that she had a big negative effect on the election, and she most likely gained him a small amount of votes.

It was W(in a huge way), the economy, and McCains flaccid, unorganized campaign.

But no, she has no future as far as the presidency goes.

You funny when you bring up these woman angles. By the way you are in the medical field what do all these letters mean RN, BSN, MSN, CRNA and will this mean a woman with those credentials be making more then the Governor of Alaska? A woman that truly helps people instead of trying to con them?

She sure did look like she wanted to say something. Even as she walked past the mike it looked like she was going to stop and give us one last ...... you betcha

I think McCain figured out what a huge mistake he had made early on , and by then nothing could be done.

Well I thought this issue was dead. But not on FOX. O'Rilley gave this about 6/7 minutes. It was not nice. It tells me some higher up Reb's want her to understand she had her time. Now back to Alaska for ever. Yes one point that was made. She did want to say something last night and she was told no. And for once they can't blame this on liberial press. FOX is not that.
