Falcons suspend 3 players for tournament
BLADE STAFF

BOWLING GREEN - Three members of the BG men's basketball team, including two starters, will not participate in this weekend's tournament in Minneapolis because they violated team rules, The Blade has learned.

Those being held out of competition are starting forwards Nate Miller and Chris Knight, who ranked first and second in scoring on last year's team, along with reserve forward Cameron Madlock.

Neither Knight nor Miller, a preseason All-Mid-American Conference selection, started in Saturday's exhibition win over Ashland. Madlock did not play.

BG opens the tournament Friday against Georgia State before playing host Minnesota and Concordia-St.Paul on Saturday and Sunday.

BOWLING GREEN - The Falcons could be one of the schools that make a surprise run at the MAC title this season, and that is due to the team's frontcourt which possesses two top forwards. Nate Miller and Chris Knight are definitely trouble for any opponent, especially Miller, who does a little of everything on the basketball floor. Last year Miller posted 13.2 ppg to go along with 6.5 rpg and 2.7 apg. The senior should be able to duplicate those numbers and could finish the year on one of the All-MAC teams. Joe Jakubowski and Brian Moten will likely be the backcourt duo for BGSU. Jakubowski has a strong basketball sense, and will once again be a terrific floor general for the Falcons. As for Moten, he posted just 9.2 ppg this past season, but the guard will definitely need to improve in that department, as the squad will rely on someone to score from the guard position. If the backcourt can lend a helping hand to the tandem in the frontcourt, the Falcons should be tough to beat in the MAC.
