I dont care that it's one season or how much money you forked out or the buyouts will cost, if your program really matters to you Rodriguez and Sherman have to get canned.

Never happen in Michigan. They went through too much trouble and will give him all the latitude he needs. At least til this time next year.

As for A & M.....does it really matter. I know you are a big 12 guy and I respect the big 12 and actually kinda hope tech wins out and wins the whole thing, but I wouldn't put them on the same pedastal in comparison. Certainly not on the national stage. I'm not a big 10 guy either, but I think Michigan is a much more storied program where it would be a bigger deal and with such a big name they would give him a chance. I mean with A & M, do people care that much?

Michigan has the most losses in the history of the school. In a year that the Big 11 is asbolutely awful. AM was down 34 to Baylor....neither guy deserves another year. They dont have top 10 talent but neither of these teams should be anywhere near as bad as they are. in Sherman's case he is already getting raped again in recruiting -there is no light at the end of the tunnel for them.

You would be amazed. AM has never done anything of merit (except a couple years when they cheated and the 1939 national title - along with about 4 other teams) but the fan base thinks it is one of the top 5 programs in the country. Their fans are diehard as they come.

But I am a zero tolerance guy - I would fire friggin Forrest Gump after tonight's performance - done 30 at home to Troy? When I think about Bama's games v Kentucky and LSU and so on I cant help but want to unload on Florida.

Michigan will be okay Rodriguez is a good coach and needs to recruit his type of players.

Sherman, on the other hand I am not sure, I do know he is playing tons of freshmen, I think another year or so for him also, who would they go and get to replace him?

I'm an A&M alum. They are an abomination. I have no idea if Sherman can recruit or not. He may turn out to be terrible. However, you cannot fire him at this point. He got handed a steaming pile of crap. I was excited when we got Franchione. I just want to sit down and write a letter telling R.C. Slocum I'm sorry.

Sherman didn't really have a chance to recruit last year, and I'm faster than some of the guys on defense. I'm only giving him a 30% chance of turning the program around, but with the talent they have right now, Bear Bryant, Paul Allen and Vince Lombardi wouldn't do any better. What I learned from all of this is that, Iowa State must suck.

You need to give Rich Rod more time. This year has been shit and firing him would only make things worse in the long run. He is changing a style of football that has been the same for the last 40 years. They will be much better next year and the years to come. Rich Rod has a top 10, maybe top 5 recruiting class coming in next year. This will take a few years to get the right guys in for his style of football. The talent that Michigan lost last year was huge. Between that and the transfers they were left with bits and pieces. The Michigan football mystic has been tarnished but it will get better. If not Les Miles will be out of LSU soon enough. :mj07:

I am a former aggie athlete and I have to say Bill Byrne who stepped in as the new AD about 4 years ago has done a great job at turning around A&M athletics. However, with that said he has done a horrible job at turning around the football program. We have probably one of the nicest facilities in the country, spend millions of dollars on football and yet we can't even be competitive with Baylor. This is truly a sad year in A&M football history!

Looks like Sam is a likely transfer.

He's told his position coach that he wants to transfer.....he does not like the cold, he's homesick.....he wants to move to slot receiver, not sure if the coaches like that move....and he has been aloof with teammates.

Half the Um fanbase thinks this kid is the next great UM RB.....the half think he is nothing more than a return specialist.....his role in the offense has been a hot button issue most of the season.

Me? I hope the kid does whats in his heart and ends up having a nice football career and education wherever he goes.

McGuffie is going home for the weekend to attend a funeral and sort things out. Don't expect him to return. A&M is the likely destination. He's been good for a true freshmen but Shaw is a better player at this point. Not a huge loss.

Stonum and Donovan Warren are also looking at leaving. This would decimate the WR and CB positions for the coming years and would be a huge setback.

In any case, RR isn't going anywhere before his contract runs out. UM is smart enough to know that firing him before he rebuilds this thing is the only way this doesn't work out in the end. You fire him after this year or next, and all of a sudden a three year rebuild becomes a ten year mess.

Yep. Sounds like Sam is leaving.......I guess Stonum leaving would not surprise me, either.....he was an LC recruit and, at times, his place in the offense has been awkward.

D-War.....that would cause a suicide watch among my fellow maize and blue faithful.....but, he almost tranferred out after last season. Think about it, the head coach and assistant coach (English) that recuirted him are gone....the new D staff is trying to get him to play D in a different way he's used.

Man, it would suck to lose him.

CWood.....i appreciate your insights, and I think you have laid out some strong logic relative to why RR should not be firesd and given some time......but, I have a question for you.....personally, are you a fan of RR and do you expect him to turn it around? What kind of record do you expect next year?

I am a supporter of RR but I can't in any way stand behind the job he did in 2008. He build a defensive staff from the ass-end and it cost this team a chance at being respectable. I'm not sure what that says about him other than he did a lousy job with this transition.

I can't give you a record prediction next year without knowing who is going to leave. If Graham stays, the defensive staff is given a firm direction and Forcier is as good as advertised, I think you could see 7-5 or even 8-4 next year. If Graham leaves, Warren leaves and Forcier isn't ready to take over (as most freshman QB's aren't) then you could see 3-9 again.

There is some comfort to be had in the fact that RR went 3-8 his first year at WVU, then went 9-4 his next year. We'll see.

I will tell you that under no circumstances will you see him fired before the 2010 season is complete. Bill Martin is committed to letting him get his guys in here before making any decisions.

No one outside of College Station has much respect for A&M and their football program. Their fans are unrealistic and delusional about their relevance in the CFB world. They've always been a 7-5 or 8-4 type of team and pretty much always will be IMO. The only real run of success they has in the modern era was when they cheated and the rest of the SWC was way down.

With Texas, Texas Tech, OU and LSU being very successful today it is killing A&M. They aren't able to recruit the type of athletes to compete with these teams that are geographically close to them. I don't see things getting much better for the Ags anytime soon. I have ZERO sympathy for them. Their fans are obnoxious, arrogant and unrealistic and school the Aggie "traditions" are beyond bizzare, lol.

AM is so bad he may not do that and his personality isnt a great fit - I could see him at Tech but he almost went to AM.

Also hear Stonum is gone.
