Ok, so here's the story, I've only played XBOX probably 10 times in my life. I'd go over to a friends every now and then and play some war type game, call of duty 3?

Anyways, a friend asked me if I wanted to buy an XBOX he had. He had an extra one or whatever, but he owed me $40 so I bought it for 110$ from him. First of all, is that a pretty good deal? I got the consule and a control(with all the hook ups obviously), but that's it.

My question for you experts or pros out there is what tips for playing this game do you have? Is there a website that has helpful tips as far as playing online or what games to buy, etc...?

I'm pretty clueless when it comes to how I'd play online and what not.

What price range am I looking at in buying games, controlers, or whatever else I might need?

Thanks!

Over here in Australia, games cost about $100 bucks. I have never played online, so i can't give you any feedback on that, but interms of games, Gears of War and games such as Call of Duty are fucking awsome. There are heaps of games and shit, some older or mid to old that cost less also. Fifa is brilliant of you like futbol and NHL and NFL are pretty solid too.

Gamespot is probably pretty decent to get info from or even EB games.

I've got a 360...

I love it...I just picked of Call of Duty--WORLD AT WAR..

The BEST FPS on the market... In fact COD 4 and Bioshock were rated 10 out of 10 in Gamer magazine last year...

I don't play the sports games, so can't comment on that.

I just bought the wireless adapapter and have been playing on XBOX LIVE for acouple of days...very easy to set up and play...

Do you have an 360 or just an XBOX?

Yesterday I messed around with it, and figured out how to register a name for online.

Anything else I have to do after buying the service pack? I'd probably buy the 12month for $49.99

First thing I need to do is go buy a game.

What kind of accessories should I get/buy?

COD 3, the one you have, is the worst in the series but still good. I'm not a huge COD fan though.

You must get all the Halo games; 1 and 2 came out for the regular XBOX, but they play just fine on the 360 too. Halo 3 is awesome as well.

XBOX live has a membership fee. You'll either love it and become semi-addicted (not as bad as the WOW freaks) or it won't do much for you. The absolute best thing about live is talking chit to other people online. Go to youtube and pull up a few Halo 3 videos. :mj07: I won't let my 9 year old have it for that reason, but I'm considering getting it for him if I can figure out how to turn the chat from other players off. My 9 year old kicks my moon1 and one of my degenerate buddies taught him what "teebagging" is as that is a very popular move after you kill somebody. :mj07:

Halo 3 also has a Forge version if you like to create. I care nothing for that; my 9 year old loves it.

Have fun, and I think you got a fair deal.

Add... Pricing is going to be about 60 for a new game. I never buy them new though because there's always used ones at the local places that trade in used cds, xbox games, ps3 games, etc. We have 3 here in my small town, so that's what I suggest. You can also get good prices on Ebay sometimes for used games. The game discs are tough and withstand tons of abuse, so even if scratched from ebay, they work.

The sports take some time but you will get used to them. I always say I hate them when I first start but then I love them. Check out gamefaqs.com. go the game then message board for the particular game you are intrested. you can people opinions of the game and tips.

I've been playing this NCAA Football 2009 online, have I think 7 games in the book and I'm 1-6! LOL...the sad part is the person who lost to me lol

A couple of my losses have been close, but 3or4 have been blow outs.

My problem is hitting the wrong buttons and my timing. I seem to throw about 6 interceptions a game!
