Why does Ted Thompson still have a job?

WORST PERSONNEL MOVE IN NFL HISTORY.

Everyone knew it when it was going on. He is such a stubborn ASS - "I drafted Rodgers #1 (24th pick) dammit, I'm gonna play him - he is my legacy"....

We'll guess what Ted? You screwed the pooch. You have set back the franchise probably 10 years.

A 13-3 team that already has 6 losses??:mj07:

The funny thing is? If they would have traded Rodgers, they probably would have gotten a better draft pick than they got for Favre (since they were forced into a trade - and were only willing to trade him to an AFC team).

And Favre probably would have played another 3-5 years - plenty of time to draft and groom another backup QB.

When you have a good team, you go for it. You don't rebuild with a rookie QB (not when you have a better option). I can understand why Baltimore did it - they had no option. GB had one of the best to ever play the position.

Yeah, he might have played 3-5 more years, after he holds the team hostage by retiring and unretiring after every year. Not a Thompson fan, but its time to move on.

Under a mask.
I agree. A quarterback doesnt make a team.Funny how everyone ignores the problems on the defensive side of the ball, but says with
arve things would be different.
Just doesnt add up.

Mags you should take a closer look at your team.
You say that by trading Farve, they tanked the season, when the truth, and I know truth hurts is that GB is just not that good(Key injuries esp. on the def. side dont help.)

In fact Farves and Rodgers #ers are similuar .
Actually Rodgers are better running and scoring TDS.Weres there yards ,completions and TD|INT. ratio are almost neck and neck.

Where it is real F ing COLD
Yeah Green Bay's defense has been getting scorched. Favre's team has a much better running game than the Pack this year.
The Pack was a team last year that caught everybody by surprise last year and greatly exceeded expectations. This year the expectations were greatly over exagerated.' I would be more pist at Ted Thompson for

A. Not addressing the offensive line in the off season.

B. Trading Cory Williams to Cleveland.

C. Trading down in the draft to take Jordy Nelson a receiver that does have ability but the team doesn't need a WR.

Guys, you are letting one game define the defense this year:

Let's look at the last 6 games, and points given up:

Seattle - 17
Indianapolis - 14
Tennessee - 19
Minnesota - 28
Chicago - 3
New Orleans - 51

Where is this "the defense is bad and getting scorched" crap coming from?

In 4 of their last 6, they've held their opponents to under 20 points.

EVEN INCLUDING LAST NIGHT'S GAME, they are only averaging giving up 22.0 points a game in the last 6 games.

Before last night, they had given up an average of 16.2 points in the previous 5 games.

And the Defense has already set a record for scoring TD's in a given year (GB record) with 10 touchdowns.

So, other than last night, it ain't the defense in my mind. The offense isn't holding up it's end.

And that game last night turns out a lot different if:

1. Rodgers does not miss the pass to Jennings, when he was wide open for a 60+ yard TD,
2. Rodgers doesn't have 3 picks,
3. Rodgers doesn't have a fumble.

While last night was a defensive debacle, the poor offensive showing is what has hurt this team in my opinion. And you can't blame the running game - it was non existant in the first 8 games last year - yet the team finished 13-3.

Last night's defensive effort was just one of those things - and once Rodgers started throwing picks, it just snowballed.....

Bleeding - I do agree with your 3 points listed... in addition, it would have been nice to see them go after Shawne Rodgers, who got traded to Cleveland....

Rusty - the stats maybe simiiliar, but I think one of the reasons they played over their head last year was due to playing with and for a 1st ballot hall of famer.

That intangible means something - I'm sure the feel in the huddle when Rodgers says "let's go get a TD" is much different than when Favre says it.

Can't put stats on how a team responds to a respected leader. Rodgers may get there in 10 years or so, but I'm sure his teammates don't hold him in the same lofty esteem as Favre, even if Favre was more withdrawn in the last few years.

It's awefully hard to not respect a guy who has never missed a start at QB. Not many guys can say that - even young pups. Heck, Montana missed 2 full years due to injury. There is something to be said for having a tough SOB at QB, who you know will be there for every snap.

Its all Rodgers fault:rolleyes: .There D is pathetic.
Take it from a Pats fan.Our D is pathetic too and we have a young QB.

Only difference is we wont blame Cassel for everything.Mags get over it.Oh yeah we will also give Cassel his do when he does well like the last 2 weeks, and yes one of the games was a loss to the NYJ.

On the course!
I guess we'll just ASSUME Brett Favre would have taken some magic potion over the summer that prevented his passes from getting picked all of the sudden, huh?

I guess Jennings wouldn't have fallen down last night if Favre was the QB, leaving Jason David with a freebie like he got?

Perhaps Jordy Nelson would have run the correct route for Favre, instead of going one way, while the Rodgers pass went the other?

Season has a way to go yet...........don't light the torches yet.
