Tennessee(-11) over Detroit (1*)
- - I expect I'll be one and done with plays for today . . . The Titans were due a beatdown by a good team, and the Jets with extra time to prepare, and the precise skills of Favre, were just the team to do it. No such threat in this game if HC Fisher is pushing the right buttons with the Titans this week . . . Detroit has not shined in their Turkey Day showcase under the current mess; they could best use coming in under the radar, rather than the pressures of a big game moment, to take out any of their frustrations.

I'll indulge in another play . . .

Philadelphia(-3) over Arizona (1*)
- - This is a bad spot for Arizona . . . Zona off back to back "Super Bowls" (on the road in Seattle to bury the division kingpin, then a feature game against the mighty Giants), now a short week to travel to a cold climate on the east coast with a bullseye on QB Warner, with all the urgency of something like a nine game lead in their division . . .On the other side, the Eagles went toe to toe against the Ravens until the late stages in a very physical battle, McNabb loves to toss the ball around and gets the 21st rated pass defense to go against, and the Turkey Day host is being trashed by their fans and the public for having the same qualities as the Lions of Detroit . . . Arizona may really be good enough, and/or Philadelphia may really be bad enough, but it's not a meaningless cliche to say this is a bad spot for Arizona.

*********************************

On the day of his 32nd birthday, Donovan McNabb took the light approach when asked at a press conference Tuesday how he had learned he was still the starting quarterback of the Philadelphia Eagles. "I was told by the janitor," said a smiling McNabb, who will open against the Arizona Cardinals here Thursday night. "You know, me and him have a pretty good relationship around here. It's a pretty good conversation we had." ~ USAToday

" First, I would like to make one big point, "What the hell are you doing Andy Reid?". Buy a vowel, get a clue. If the Philadelphia fans booed Santa Claus, for punishment the Eagle management should mandate that Andy Reid wear a Santa suit with a beard on the sideline, and hold a sack stuffed with timeclocks. A couple of more meals Andy, and soon you will become the Thanksgiving float at the end of the parade. Donovan McNabb, "No soup for you", and they said Terry Bradshaw was dumb. Don't get me started. Maybe the Eagles can trade you for Rex Grossman. They will name the trade "Dumb and Dumber." Enough, now about the game. As bad as the Eagles have been playing, and as good as the Cardinals have been playing, Philadelphia is still the favorite by -3.0 points? This is why I warn the public of recent impressions, and not to get caught up by what they seen from the game before. The public is betting heavily on Arizona, 69% To 75% . . . As you can see, I am backing that same Eagle team that I just bashed." ~ from a capper on another site

- - Coming home after a month away, was anyone surprised that New Orlean's pass offense was better than Green Bay's pass defense? Green Bay gets in a 60 minute chess match today.

Houston(-3)(-115) over Jacksonville (1*)
- - This is a "Super Bowl" night for a Gary Kubiak regime that has at a minimum shown earnest aspirations and a healthy chemistry, which cannot have been easy street through the tough hand they were dealt to start the season. I'm not ecstatic about QB Rosenfels at the controls, and I'm not sure I would prefer Schaub at this point, but they still put up some decent yards and points on offense:

. . . Jacksonville has been a nice "go against" or stay away team for me all year as the season has unfolded:
Something ain't right when you (Jax) need to play Detroit to get a matchup in which your team finally doesn't look like they were on the other end of most of the physical play. Not a good spot for Jax (vs. Tennessee) to be relying on the theme of past seasons when they would unleash their best games when their backs were against the wall.

Jacksonville does not have the deck chairs in place IMO to make them an attractive "rebound" team to push the right buttons in this non - Super Bowl spot off their 18 point smackdown:

Glad you guys stopped by with well wishes in this thread, instead of any of my NCAA threads over the last 3 weeks which have featured a sorry performance of 6-16 (-12.15*) . . . Cheers and GL!

Tennessee(-13') over Cleveland (1*)
- - The Titans were administered a beatdown in their last appearance on their home field. With extra rest and a ho-hum matchup at Houston on deck, the lunchpail squad of HC Jeff Fisher will have their focus on this chance to dethrone Indy as the division king . . . As for the up-and-down Browns ("The team played their hearts out today" (10-6 loss against Indy on a late fumble recovery TD), coach Romeo Crennel said . . . "We gave a valiant effort. We just didn't finish."), I seriously doubt they are hitting the road on the verge of something big with their 27th rated defense, RB Jamal Lewis ( http://www.tennessean.com/article/20081204/SPORTS01/812040344/1027 ) ("Haynesworth and his fellow Titans defensive linemen haven't been kind to Lewis over the years, keeping him to less than 100 yards in each of the past seven meetings, all when he still played for the Ravens. In the past three meetings, he's averaged just 2.2 yards per carry), and their newly installed 3rd string QB.

- - I really, really want to take Seattle
I really, really thought a strong case could be made for all six teams that played on Thanksgiving, and didn't think a better case could be made for any of their opponents. So far, those sides are 5-0, with Dallas pending . . . But I'm too square, and to prove it, I'll likely tail Jack and chase with the Ravens tonight . . .

Still debating . . .

Miami(-6) over San Francisco (1*)
- - "The sharps like what they see from San Francisco, but they recognize this as a killer schedule spot, having to travel back out East for the second time in three weeks...and are in letdown situation after upsetting Brett Favre and the Jets." Miami comes home off the pressure of delivering two road wins.
- - http://www.rockymountainnews.com/ne...-big-part-of-dolphins-turnaround/?partner=RSS (Miami leads league with +12 turnover margin; SanFran is last with -12. Last week, SanFran dominated the Jets, but they still fumbled five times, but losing only one.)
- - "SF Quarterbacks are the 2nd most sacked in the league. The Fins got torched by the Patriots west coast and short passing offense at home, but Mike Martz passing plays take longer to develop, and they will have no running game without Frank Gore. San Fran also has 2 of their best receivers banged up ( Morgan plays X and is huge in that offense)."

Seattle(-1)(-125) over St. Louis (1*)
- - Seattle has holes they can't correct, but have the virtue of having been fighting for a win in the worst way for weeks, and after leading for 57 minutes last week, they are far more pissed than resigned. They stay in the division to finally earn a few smiles today. (" (HC Mike) Holmgren gave his team a fiery talk Monday, imploring his captains and coaches to continue their hard work . . . "I have great affection for this team and these guys. I believe I have a good relationship with most of the guys on the football team," said Holmgren, in his 17th year as a head coach. "But I'm still the old head coach, and they've got to play. I've got to yell at them, they get mad at me." . . . Seattle linebacker Lofa Tatupu said Holmgren's emotional words hit home . . . "He gave us our goals, which was win these games. But he said you guys also have to start thinking about your future, where it is with this team," Tatupu said. "It was tough. It was a tough little meeting.")

Green Bay(-1) over Jacksonville (1 Biscuit)
- - Jacksonville has fallen apart on and off the field, and has been a go against or stay away team for two months. The Packers seem to be playing hard, but with their defense hemorrhaging yardage and points, they've done nothing to earn the benefit of the doubt on being capable of going on the road and beating anyone except the hapless Lions and a Seattle team that was down to a third string quarterback. Hope that helps.
