(TICKER) ?The hapless Cleveland Browns are down to their third-string quarterback after essentially losing Derek Anderson for the remainder of the season.

Anderson has a torn MCL in his left knee and will miss four to six weeks, the Browns announced Monday.

Anderson, who underwent an MRI exam on Monday, will not undergo surgery. However, he will wear a protective brace and will miss the Browns? final four regular-season contests.

Cleveland (4-8) is a severe long shot to reach the postseason, the earliest Anderson would be available to return.

Anderson suffered the injury in Sunday?s 10-6 loss to the Indianapolis Colts. Browns coach Romeo Crennel said Ken Dorsey will start next Sunday?s game at Tennessee.

The Browns also announced that tight end Kellen Winslow, who suffered a high left ankle sprain Sunday, will miss the contest against the Titans.

Winslow will be in a walking boot for up to a week after also undergoing an MRI.

Starting for the first time in four games, Anderson sustained the injury when Cleveland right tackle Kevin Shaffer fell on the quarterback?s leg on the Browns? final drive.

Anderson?s injury came just five days after the Browns learned that Brady Quinn would miss the rest of the season with a broken finger. Quinn started Cleveland?s previous three games after Anderson was benched.

Dorsey was 0-for-3 Sunday in his first action of the season. He has not started since Week 12 of the 2005 season when he was with the San Francisco 49ers.

I never pull for any player to be injured BUT, I like our chances even more this weekend against Ken Dorsey:mj07:
