Rutgers (-11) over Louisville
The knights are coming on of late winning their last five games. The last four games have been by commanding margins as well. Louisville is going the other direction losing their last four games and just looking like a football team that is in question. The Cardinals enter the game at 5-6 overall and 1-5 in BIG EAST play. Granted in those last few games Louisville has played Pitt, Cincy and WVU b ut they also lost to Cuse to start the down turn. THREE road games this season so far for Louisville, two big losses for them on the road and a win against paper game against a bad memphis team. This is a big game for Rutgers considering how they started the season, they have the home field advantage, they swagger and could get to the seven win mark and eek out a better bowl spot. This is a great spot for a hot team that has been clicking on offense and defense. Remember this team was very good last season and after starting 1-5 they lost some of the steam, but now they have found it and they are a tough out. I have noticed the line has gone down but I just do not see what Louisville brings into this game that keeps it closer than 2 touchdowns. Cardinals defeated the Scarlet Knights, 41-38, last season. In Rutgers? six wins this season, the Scarlet Knights have forced 15 turnovers (6 interceptions, 9 fumble recoveries). In stark contrast, Rutgers has not recorded a takeaway in its five losses in 2008. Cantwell is a QB that will make big mistakes if forced to pass and under pressure. He becomes so consumed with the pass rush that he locks onto receivers and forces the throw. I have been against Teel all season but over the past few games he has found Britt deep and underwood underneath as a way to move the chains and score points. This is something they can do tonight as well. English has changed the way Louisville has played defense but I think that is not going to be the story tonight, remember on the road against Pitt the panthers dropped 40 on Louisville. The Scarlet Knights are tops in the league in conference play in scoring offense (29.5), pass efficiency (144.5), third-down conversions (44.8%). red zone offense (17-of-19, 89.5%) and fewest penalty yardage per game (41.8). The Scarlet Knights are second in pass offense (258.2), sacks (scoring defense (19.0 ppg) 19) and red zone defense (11-of-16, 68.8%). Third downs might be an issue but I think the knights momentum is enough to get them into the redzone and they will get points. I think Louisville would have to play a very good game to stay in this contest but considering they are out of the bowl picture, they are in a down turn and they have questions across the coaching board the Cards just do not have enough in the tank to play spoiler on the road.

Ball State (-14) over Buffalo
Looking at Buffalo this season they have taken a big step forward but looking at the margin of victory and who they played they are a good team but not a great team. They have played some tough teams but they have not beaten any real players. On the other side, Ball State has not seen a lot of competition out of conference but they did give CMU and W.Mich more than they can handle and I think they are on track to be too difficult for Buffalo to compete against. While the Bulls are averaging 30.2 points per game, they'll be in for a challenge against an unheralded Ball State defense yielding 16.7 a game. Defense is going to be huge for Ball State. Looking at the ability of both teams to put up points one of these teams will have to make a few stops. Watching Buffalo this team is about scoring and not stopping. Both teams are new to this game but the pressure is on Buffalo. I know that is funny to see but considering Ball State has had a high ranking all season and been in the crosshairs they have seen tough games with pressure while the Bulls have not seen this type of situation. What is funny is you listen to Hoke and team talk and you would not even know this team is ranked and going to a decent bowl game. You would think they have only one game left and that is this championship. I hate to point out that West division has won the past two years by commanding margins but I think it speaks to the better teams rising to the top. I really think Ball State is a more effective offense and will not stop themselves like Buffalo will do. While the Bulls force turnovers, they also allowed 31.6 points during their five-game winning streak. I think the Ball State defense should get to Willy and make it tough for him to pass all night. Willy, Starks and Rosevelt are the big three for Buffalo and the players the defense have to key on to make it tough sledding. Ball State leads the MAC in defensive scoring (16.7 points per game) and ranks fourth in the league in total defense. The Cardinals lead the MAC in interceptions made (16). Thats the difference, Buffalo bends and breaks and hopes to get a turn over here and there to get the offense back on the field and keep them in the game. Ball State actually has a defense bent on stoping teams and not allowing points, which lets the offense take chances. Ball state has to come out strong, take it to Buffalo while the Bulls are thinking how cool it is to be playing on this BIG stage. I also think Ball State has a speed advantage and that is a big plus playing on a fast track. I actually bought the hook because I think Buffalo will fight hard and I do not think Hoke tries to run it up, but to be ahead by 2 TD's might be the margin unless Ball state is firing and Buffalo is not, then it might get a little ugly. Considering Buffalo has been in some very close games all season you would have to think Ball wants to get ahead and stay ahead to avoid giving Buffalo a punchers chance.

No time, today is Clark Griswold tree hunting day with the lad and Mrs.

FAV Play
VT (ML) over BC
BC's back up qb will not be allowed to throw like he was against maryland. VT is playing good football but not great however we all know Bud Foster had his kids playing against a running QB to prepare for Davis and after Virginia was able to run the wildcat on them all day. Still I like the defensive pressure that VT will bring to this game. Lookinf for some big plays by both defenses but VT to come out with the W. The key for VT, it is VERY simple almost the easiest game plan for an offense EVER and I hope that beamer has put it together... are you ready? Run every play to the side without #94 Henrilck (sp). Thats is plan and simple he is the motor of that team and if you have a run or a short pass to his side check switch. Keep it away from him and make him work to make plays and you will see plus gains not minus.

Bama (+9.5) over FLA
This is an emotion play for me.... you are the number one team in the nation and your getting 10. I know Saban has shown that along with the discussions about Texas and Okie and Fla being the best teams in the nation. If this team cannot come out on another level emotionally I would be hardpressed to find anything to get them in this game and it might get ugly.

Okie (-17) over Mizzou
Mizzou lost to Okie St, Texas and Kansas. They suck against the pass and just like last year when Mizzou had a better team Okie will light up the board against that paper defense. Macklin will make plays but Dainels has something like 1 TD and 6 Ints against Okie in the past few games.

Pitt (+2.5) over UConn
Panthers are playing well, they have a runner and the better defense to stop Brown. They have been playing better football of late and considering Sfla was able to beat UConn I am just not sold on they can do anything other than hand off to Brown. Hate playing with Wanny but I have to think they are playing the better ball and should win this game but I do not respect the coaches for Pitt I'll take the 2.5.

Tulsa (-14) over ECU
The line is going down, thats funny that folks are talking about the ECU defense. I know they had a great start to the season but those days are long gone. They are a good football team defensively but they have been handed their lunch against some bad teams this season and they struggle against good offenses like Tulsa. This will be offense against a team that will not be able to stay with them in the track meet. Much like Mark May said last night "Sorry Mrs. Holtz but Tusla will roll ECU"

ASU (+10.5) over Zona
Rivalry game and I think even though the sundevils have had a bad year a win tonight will help make the pain go away. They will play hard and I think this is just too much chalk to give a team with the talent of ASU. I know they have been down but they have been getting things going of late and playing some good ball.

HEY GRISWOLD.... where you gonna put a tree that big...... Bend over and I'll show you"
