al, it's unfortunately easy to understand, a nut shot him. A tremendous loss indeed, but just as simple as that, a nut with a gun. I was watching Monday night football as well.

Chapman thought Lennon was the biggest hypocrite of his times. "Imagine" no possessions, it isnt hard to do, yet Chapman would say Lennon had it all.

Chapman was also a lost soul in more ways than one. He became fixated on Holden Caulfield in Catcher in the Rye. He felt like Holden was lost in his day as was Chapman himself.

Elton John's Empty Garden is probably my favorite song from the 80s. Of course everyone knows he wrote the song for Lennon.

Imagine there's no heaven
It's easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us only sky
Imagine all the people
Living for today...

Imagine there's no countries
It isn't hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people
Living life in peace...

You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will be as one

Imagine no possessions
I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
A brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world...

You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will live as one

Wait until the war is over
And were both a little older
The unknown soldier
Breakfast where the news is read
Television children fed
Unborn living, living, dead
Bullet strikes the helmets head
And its all over
For the unknown soldier
Its all over
For the unknown soldier
Hut
Hut
Hut ho hee up

On Howard Stern today they had a guest on that topic. Denny Somach called in talking about him. He's trying to figure out where Lennon is buried. It was a great interview and nobody knows where he is buried. Nobody even thought about it until the topic was brought up.They say ashes here and there and Yoko said in an interview otherwise, but wouldn't go farther or comment more. It was a good interview. howardstern.com , click on Mondays show.

If u have video On Demand w/ your cable company, the movie Chapter 27 is available right now. Jared Leto plays Chapman...

The movie is titled after Catcher in the Rye... 27 would be the "extra" chapter...

I think i'll watch it tonight.

In dog years, Keith Richards turned 65 2 decades ago. Amazing he's still alive.

Every Year some of the best musicians in the MPLS area put a tribute on at First Avenue on the anniversary of his death. Anywhere from 5 to 15 musicians on stage at one time, doing over 70 Lennon songs (a couple of George's in there as well, including a stunning "While My Guitar Gently Weeps). It's a time for hope and monster singalong. My voice is always gone the next day!

Lennon had a great impact on my life and so many others. A true rock and roller and a man of vision and conscience.

John Lennon, Elton John, Madison Square Garden, Thanksgiving 1974

3093586218_bfd5f0895c_o.jpg

John Winston Lennon; 9 October 1940 ? 8 December 1980)

In 1974 Elton performed on John Lennon's comeback single Whatever Gets You Through The Night, and later that year was joined by Lennon onstage at New York's Madison Square Garden. This performance, always cited by Elton as one of the most memorable of his entire career, was to be John Lennon's final concert.

English rock musician, singer, writer, songwriter, artist, actor and peace activist who gained worldwide fame as one of the founding members of The Beatles. Lennon along with Paul McCartney formed one of the most influential and successful songwriting partnerships and "wrote some of the most popular music in rock and roll history".

On the night of 8 December 1980 Mark David Chapman shot Lennon in the back four times (the fifth shot missed) in the entrance hallway of the Dakota. Lennon had autographed a copy of Double Fantasy for Chapman earlier that same night.

Lennon was pronounced dead on arrival in the Emergency Room at the Roosevelt Hospital at 11:15 p.m. On the following day, 9 December 1980, Ono issued a statement: "There is no funeral for John. John loved and prayed for the human race. Please pray the same for him. Love, Yoko and Sean."[185] Chapman pleaded guilty to second degree murder and was sentenced to 20 years to life. He is still in prison, having been denied parole five times.
Comments
John:
"I'd like to thank Elton and the boys for having me on tonight. We tried to think of a number that we could finish off with so I could get out of here and be sick (Elton chuckles), so we thought we'd do a number of an old estranged fiance of mine called Paul. We just barely know it...one two three..."
Reporter:
And they kicked into "I Saw her Standing There." Also the night he and Yoko got back together. An amazing night, to say the least!
