My wife and I are just "thinking" of a new "fun" car.

I said my vote would be for a newer but used corvette.

She said that corvettes are for bald, fat and middle aged guys who unbutton too many shirt buttons and wear gold chains.

I think that is BS.

If you were shopping for a "fun" third car what would you buy? The budget is 55k or under.

Do you agree with her comments?

if you own a vette you become a member of a huge fraternity of car owners. The corvettes are made here in BG, and it seems like every other weekend there's some sort of Corvette homecoming. Our town is full of them anyway, and on those weekends, it seems every other car is a Corvette. They're great cars, and trust me, they certainly just aren't for fat, bald, middle aged men.

That is one good looking Toyota. She'd go for that!

I'd rather have that Lexus than a vette any day of the week. My buddy has one and it is sweet. I have family that has newer vettes and there is no comparison to that Lexus in my book.

If you like sporty go for the vette. If you like luxury go for the Lexus.

9 out of 10 Corvette Drivers have a mustache, do you have one? I think it is a requirement when buying one.

Above the Clouds....
Go for the Corvette. I bought a '71 coupe in '99 and we love it.

Can't go wrong because they don't depreciate like others so you can call it an investment too.

Live the American Dream and drive one to cruise ins and car shows. Believe me you'll meet a lot of people and make new friends!!

. . . as long as you don't mind your friends being balding, fat, middle-aged males

I've got a 2000 Convertible (in my mind, the way to go - nothin' beats droppin' the top on a nice day).

If you are an American, you must go Corvette. None of the foreign cars give you the same bang for the buck.

There is a huge fraternity - but to bust stereotypes, I am not 55, fat and bald.. I am 45 (I've had it 9 years), full head of hair, not fat, and from what I'm told, HOT! :mj07:

Now those European cars.... yea, most of those guys - well, these think they are something special - kind of reminds me of the guys from NY who used to go to Studio 54 in NY - all full of themselves - maybe have money, but have no character.

All the various Corvette rallies (we love the Mid-America one in Southern Illinois every year) are awesome...

I'm not saying some of the foreign cars aren't fun, cuz I'm sure they are.... but there is something about a Vette.... and people in America know it....

I get so many people coming to talk to me when I'm in the Vette..... it's an American thing... I doubt people would want to talk to me if I was driving a BMW.....

And, the Corvette is a good car - try to find something that is as good for the same cash.
