From what I've read, there are three aspects to weight loss.

1. Diet
2. Cardio - increase metabolism
3. Resistance training - build muscle (this is where the fat is burned).

THE DIET HAS TO BE RIGHT. YOU SHOULD EAT HEALTHY AND AVOID UNHEALTHY CRAP. BREAD + PASTRIES PUTS WEIGHT ON..........BIG TIME.

If I eat a sandwhich, I wrap everything in a lettuce leaf.

Hey Toast...........

Nice job man!

I don't want to be cliche', so I have promised myself that I will start an exercise regimen on the 5th. I know it won't happen on the first, so why disappoint myself the very first day.

Stay the course.

Merry Christmas

Just caught this thread for the first time. I reaaly have to get going on a diet/excerise regimen. Agree with Keyser, I am going for it in earnest starting on the 5th of January. Really need to lose 50+.

Let's keep this thread going. It can serve as inspiration for me and the rest of the MJers trying to get healthier.

For me and the wife, running has done wonders.

Theres a program called couch to 5K, its a great program. It worked well for her.

Basically shows how you to go from no zero aerobic endurance, to being able to run 5K (3.1) miles with out stopping.

A lot of gamblers have used the "5k to the couch" method...........

Buddy you can do this. If I can gain 100 pounds since I graduated from HS over 48 years ago. I just know you can. By the way when I went from beer to diet pepsi and no cookies. I lost 40 of those pounds. So go get it done. And keep walking. I go 3.5 miles everyday. And do light weights three times a week. And keep haveing sex. Don't laugh it helps.
