Handicapping and posting....

Yeah, yeah...many of us here have said this before, But I truly mean it this time. Hell, If I could stop drinking, anything is possible. Never going to say never, but I really need to get my priorities in order. Lost my ass tonight on what I thought was a sure fire lock according to my numbers. Who needs the stress. I don't. Gambling is suppose to be fun and entertaining, but it's a full time job for me and I take it way to serious. I mean, I've won my fair share of money over the years, but If I really had to break it down.... betting all sports, playing on line poker, home games, betting horses on line and at the OTB,and going to the casino , no way in hell I'm up money over the long haul. Would make me sick to know exactly how much I'm down. Anyway, gonna concentrate on my duties as a husband and father. What better time than New Years right? Things might change down the road, as I've been truly blessed with my Great Grandfather being such and entrepreneur. Some farmland and real estate that has recently come into my possession should help me get out of debt, take care of both my children's college and get my wife and I a nice start toward retirement. This is what's most important in my life right now. I will miss the action and my brain won't know how to act without crunching numbers and following line movement. If I do things the right way now, there will be plenty of time "to play" later on in life.

Best of Luck and Happy New Year to all! :sadwave:

If I had a girlfriend, family, or something else to take me away from this, I would be done myself. Good Luck buddy!

It's all about the change buddy...

Embrace it with the same vigor and understanding that you have done with getting sober..

More changes to come my friend and all of them for the good of your life and therefore the greatness of your loved ones lives down the road..

You are on the RIGHT TRACK my friend. And don't ever get off.

Channel that desire and yearn for the wining rush into sound and concrete things to give and pass along to your wife and children.

Remember..
if you can see it...hold it

if you can hold it then keep it

then one day you can give it all to them.

PEOPLE...PLACES..and THINGS

all ever changing for the sober man..

Have fun...because the ride is STILL just begining.

Mully,

We've all been there and I have enjoyed having you around for your insight and your positive influences on the board.

I've taken time away in my time here and have taken seasons off.

Feel free to enjoy the forum for the other items it offers. Hell I have a ton a friends like most on here, but I laugh to think what the cast and crew are up to and so on...

A break is needed in most hobbies... Enjoy your time away and God bless!

See you again soon.

A lot of people are going to take this this the wrong way but--you will drink and gamble and every other thing to live and you say you wont do again---you are kidding yourself..........you dont need help-----you need to know who you are and what you want to be.....you want to live and be happy or die--you will make the right choices...plain and simple...it boils down to that....AA and GA wont help you---death or life---period....

I know taking time off betting sucks, this is why I bet very small, its a fun thing to me, I bet 20 or 25 per game 40 if I really like it and if I bet 100 on a game watch out. Betting sports should be nothing more than a hobby, when if becomes work, time to quit. I enjoy it by betting small. I will be taking time off after the NBA finals until football starts back up.

I wish you the best of luck with your 2 kids and wife in the new year. stop in time to time to let us know how it is going and who people are playing.

Mully Rather than be down in the dumps on lastest gambling run--if you follow through on your convictions above I have no doubt you will look back on the bad run as one of the best occurances in your life in the future.

Considering your scenerio above per grandfather--you have been dealt your biggest win ever--Your only job now is not to give it back. Seems easy--but maybe not. You may have to fight the --
Archie Karas syndrome--he has been referred to in many publications as the greatest gambler ever--but fact of the matter he is one of lifes biggest losers--he was up millions and almost had Binions busted but his mindset refused to let him be a winner--as it wasn't about the money--it was about the thrill.

So the way I see it--since you aleady hit that "Big Paraly" you can now sit back --make a few recreational "stress free wagers"--continue posting your plays -and be celebrating this new year and the rest of your life.--:toast:

True enough!

You'll be amazed at how early you get to bed, too!

:mj07:

All of the sudden you won't give a shit if you can't watch the Thursday night NFL game.......You won't care that you don't have "an opinion" on the Browns/Bengals MNF game, that somehow, one hundred other guys here do! (But if it was one of 13 games on Sunday, 6 guys might post it as a play!)

Good luck, and better times, man.

thank DOB.

The farmland wil give my family some nice additional income for the rest of our lives. The real estate is in Florida where that market is real bad right now. I hope to have it up for sale by mid February at the latest, but who knows how long until i get any action on it. You nailed it on the head. I hit the "Big Parlay". At 37 years old, now is the time to make sure my family is taken care of finiancialy and emotionaly. Thanks again for this great post.

You know, a former employee of mine turned me on to this site back in 2003. Always tought it would be a great place to find some winners and maybe pass along some good info to the masses. I can't believe how many wonderful people I've come in contact with and I can honestly say, I don't know if I would have ever gotten sober without the support and forum to express myself. It's one thing to tell a friend your going to stop drinking, but when you post it on the internet, it's there for the masses. Same with the plays I posted. This site made me a better handicaper but more importantly a better person.

THANKS AGAIN TO EVERYONE!!

God Bless.
