OK, I am a movie nut and i've seen the following in the past few weeks:

Gran Torino - top notch movie, maybe the best of the bunch, great great story......a must see

Milk - good, not great but sean penn is worth a look, he is a good actor

Doubt - very strong, phillips seymor hoffman and merryl streep are amazing, good story too

The Wrestler - very good, i must give it up to mickey rourke, he does give an awesome performance about a washed up wrestler

Valkyrie - weak, cruise can't carry this movie, almost walked out

Slumdog Millionare - great movie and story, loved this one

Yes man - walked out......BAD

Twilight - liked it, entertaining

Rachel Getting Married - very good, hard to watch, slow moving but it was good

"the bunker"
don`t go to the movies,so,i`ll comment on a cable movie i saw...watched "bug" with ashley judd and some guy named shannon......

she is an incredible actress...i had no idea how good she can be....and this guy was excellent...

it wasn`t a horror story...the first half of the movie was absolutely riveting...seeing this lonely woman and this basket case form a bond...the dialogue was amazing......the second half degenerated into a chaotic mish-mosh and pretty much ruined it...

but, ashley judd is excellent... worth a peek on cable if someone has the time....you`ll be disappointed in the last half hour or so,imo...

Gran Torino is just awful, awful script, and brutal supporting acting.....I mean come on, that girl is just terrible!!! You can just see the script running through her head in every scene!!! Slumdog and the wrestler are the best of the season.

I agree 100% and I'll go ya one further. I think Eastwood intentionally made a crap movie as a joke just to see if everyone would drool over it. I'm an Eastwood fan but this movie sucked. Rocky Balboa was more realistic.

I enjoyed Milk; I think Penn should get some consideration for an Oscar, but I don't quite think the film as a whole is going to nab a Best Film Oscar.

I enjoyed finally seeing it on the big screen, because they had been filming it all around town about 9 months ago, and it was fun to see how they turned San Francisco back into the 1970's.

They had huge open casting calls for extras. Basically if you showed up looking like you belonged in the 1970's, they accepted you.
