Anyone else notice how the Eagles players were smiling and laughing it up at the end of the game? Some were even yukking it up with the Cardinals players. Someone should tell them they just lost their chance to go to the SB. The game has certainly changed over the years, hasn't it?

Not a huge fan of it either.

Sure shake a hand, give a hug, but man its like they could care less about winning or losing. Its just about collecting a paycheck for 90% of these guys.

Union members, fellow players.See nothing wrong with it.The games over.

Really? All year long they play through injuries, play sick, travel across the country and have to spend time away family members, and the reason they do that is for a chance to get to the Super Bowl. At least that's what they SAY they do it for.

Anyway, to get that far and come up just a little short, you're telling me that loss shouldn't hurt? Shouldn't it linger for more than, I don't know, 5 seconds? It's pretty pathetic to me. It sure makes it look like they're only in it for the paycheck.

My thoughts exactly. I'm all for good sportsmanship. You should absolutely shake the other players hands, give hugs, etc. But there is a HUGE difference between being a good sport, and flat-out NOT CARING that you lost the game. Especially when it's the game before the SB.

I'm not saying every Eagles player didn't care, there were some that were obviously very shaken up (as well they should be). But it was surprising to see some of them laughing and jumping on Cardinals players like they were going to the SB too. And I was on the Cards today so this isn't sour grapes. Just an observation...

I didn't see it so can't completely comment on it. I will say that the loss pretty much sunk in about 5-10 "real-time" minutes before the game actually ended.

I think both teams have a lot of class players, played hard, and played one hell of a game.

It is disappointing, very disappointing. At the same time, most of them have great lives, gave it all they had, and the Eagles came up a little short after a great comeback.

They will probably sulk tonight, maybe for a little longer than that, but the Cards came to play and they lost a very competitive game.

I understand completely the concern, but I think the Eagles left it all on the field today.

It's true that they probably knew the game was over after failing to convert that 4th down. I don't know though man... the highest level of competition I ever played at was only high school, and ANY loss tore me up.

I can't even imagine joking around and being friendly with the opposing team right after a loss, whether I knew the players or not. But I am insanely competitive, probably TOO competitive.

Yeah, like I say, I didn't see it. Soon after the game, I switched over to make sure not to miss AFC...

I remember my last game in high school. We were #1 in the state and lost playoff game to #2 team. I don't think it really set in until we got to the locker room and I balled like a baby.

I wasn't happy and joking on the field, but at the same time, it didn't set in until the locker room. As far as other losses, only losses we had were in playoffs :)

I also understand that NFL is a business and as much as players love the game, they didn't make it a business, it is what it is. They still want to win. And, unlike my crying (lol), this isn't their last game, but still a very big disappointment...

Don't feel bad, I did the same thing. My junior year of football we lost to a better team in the playoffs and nobody expected much from us that year, so that wasn't too bad. But my senior year we were supposed to go pretty far in state, even though we were from a small town. Our star RB tore up his knee in practice the week of the third playoff game, so he couldn't play. We ended up losing by, I think, 4 points even without him. So yeah, it was a ballfest in the locker room after that one. :142smilie

As far as what the players were doing, they were laughing and some of them were doing the playful little pushing and fake punching of the Cardinals players (you know, just joking around with each other). I thought it was pretty odd and wondered if the Cardinals player was a former Eagle, or vice versa, but they weren't. They must have known each other somehow though.

Yeah, both of my varsity years we were #1 in the state but lost to the same team who was just as good and they won the state title both years as well as the year after I graduated.

I think we were better my junior year and it sucked to lose, but the feeling of that last game is something we all feel...
