Why Arizona Will Win

1. Coaching -- not saying the coaching is by any means superior on the Arizona sideline. In fact, Tomlin is an excellent coach. Yes, we all know the adage "defense wins championships", however, the fact that Arizona staff once roamed the Pitt sideline and has intimate knowledge of their system provides a huge edge (see Tampa Bay vs. Raiders). Whisenhunt and Grimm would also like nothing better to show the world that they shouldn't have been passed up for the Pitt head coach slot.

2. Warner vs. Rothlisberger on a big stage -- This is Kurt's third go-round at the Super Bowl and I have to believe that he is a little more at ease with the pressure that accompanies this week. Ben is still smarting from his performance at his first Super Bowl (even though Pitt won) and that fear of a repeat performance may be in the back of his mind. Plus, Kurt has the added motivation as an underdog while Ben has the expectation of a win on his shoulders.

3. Hines Ward -- of course everyone says he is going to play. The fact is, he has yet to practice since coming out of the last game. I would be surprised if he is even 50% for this game. This will allow Arizona to focus their attention on Santonio Holmes.

4. Edgerrin James -- we know that he was benched for the better part of the year, losing his starting gig to Hightower, but he has had a resurgence in the playoffs since he has been incorporated back into the offense. He has fresh legs and since he is in a contract year, he is being given the biggest stage of his career to auditon for a starting spot on someone else's roster next season.

5. It makes a better story -- granted, this has no tangible value as an edge, but somehow it just feels right that this team anchored by an aging QB that was all but out of the league after being cut by the Giants, rises from the ashes like a Phoenix to bring home Arizona's first title.

not a big fan of James personally. Just think he is playing this game with a huge chip on his shoulder.

If last year's superbowl taught us anything, it's that you can throw out the regular season and focus on teams that raise their game in the playoffs. And while Fitzgerald has played out of his head, the Cardinals defense has seriously raised their game for the playoffs.

I think you've forgotten a few things:

1. Just as Wiz knows Pitt off, Laboe knows Wiz off too. Coached together a few years, I think it evens out.

2. Warner has a much harder job of going against the leagues #1-D than Rothlisberger has going against the #19 ranked D. Arizona is in lower half of the league in total D.

3.Will conceed Wards health until game time, but don't be surprised to find him healthy enough to make a difference in the game.

4.Edgerring James has fresh legs but going against #1 D in rushing YPG and Willie Parker goes against the #15th rushing D YPG. I would say Advantage Pitt Again.

5.It is a good story the way you write it and I hate the "Steeler Nation" but those idiots would say they have the best franchise in the NFL if Pitt wins. blaw blaw, blaw!

6. Pitt has also played the toughest schedule this year with a good win % I think this will be another game against a good team.(Mind Set)

Regarding #1: It does NOT even out. It would even out if LeBeau once installed a system and coached it at Arizona. The coaching edge is SO big for Arizona that all the blah-blah-blah about it has actually concealed how huge it really is. Everyone has been dulled to it. Many, many people do not realize that Arizona can win this game by 2 TDs because of it.

1. off the top of my head, steelers have not covered the past 2 superbowls they were in.. didnt they get killed by dallas? (didnt look this up but think i'm right)

2. 26 to 1 superbowl exp players pitt vs az

i've heard on the radio it's 20 to 5..? again, could be wrong but thats what i've heard on a couple different talk shows (not sure this makes a difference either way, remember pats beating rams in sb, that ratio was probably 40 to 2)
